Black & Decker Self Adjusting Spool
After using 18 of these spools (12 this year) I really like the way they operate. They rarely mess up compared to the old bump models. They are also easier to install and if something bad happens they are easy to remove and untangle. About 95% of my weed eating is around rocks which I have hundreds. The rocks chew up the cord much faster than around trees so I use about 6 rolls of the .060 mil in about a 4 hour period. I also use them to trim bushes. These rolls feed out automatically to a length of approximately 6 inches and I cannot explain how they function but they work just fine.

Black & Decker weed eater spool
I bought a Black & Decker weed eater years ago, have bought several B&D spools, there easily interchangeable even at 64 yoa. There are very reasonably priced, ready available at Lowe's. I have over 30 bushes and over 20 trees plus exterior buildings on my property, one spool will last several times over and enough cord to take care of it. Have bragged to friends of the spool cords strength, several have went and purchased B&D weedeaters to have the spool, they agreed it was a great purchase, now no more pulling out the cord when it breaks, automatic. Lot of false reviews with this gh710
Every one says something bad about it, I have had this for 10 years, the spool if used once a month like you should be doing lasts about a year for me, the trimmer DOES NOT lock on me at all, whatever you read on these websites are falsified info, USA has very very strict underwriters labratories here if the motors they claim lock up either they are are signed up with a company to give false reviews or copying someone else, people you get a receipt that gives you rights to bring something back usually 90 days, the item could be adjusted to another 3 feet tho, fully extended I think the creator of the item was only 4 foot 8 lot of us are way over 6 feet

Replacing the spool was a little tricky at first, but now that I know how to do it, I think it will be easier the next time. The automatic feed is really nice. No more bumping on the ground.

I just purchased a new spool for our B&D trimmer. I noticed the line that was formerly blue, was now white-no big deal.
However, it sure didn't work as the previous spools had. I had to keep removing the cover to extend the line. Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. This is the first time we have had the problem. I am very careful when installing a new spool, to keep the line tight so it doesn't unwind.
If I had the time, I would buy bulk line and wind it myself.

No complaints!
Compared to other trimmers and the replacement spools, that I have owned, this has been the easiest to manage. Goes in easy and I haven't had to readjust it after installing it, and I have never had a problem with the autofeed!

It is what it is.....
I have cut and spooled my own trimmer line for a while now and just decided to buy this since I was replacing the spool cap due to damage. It definitely feeds better than when I refill it. Will see how long it lasts and as long as I can get 2 or 3 complete yard uses out of it, I may have to use it all the time.

Purchasing the three pack is certainly a much better buy than getting these individually. The main advantage in doing this is due to these being self feeding spools. Since you have less of a direct control on the line coming out, you will tend to go through one spool rather quickly. That is also on account that these are smaller with less line than many of the more powerfully gas trimmers. It still works just fine if you don't have a large amount of trimming to do.
