What You Need To Know When Choosing Vinyl Flooring
1. Types of vinyl
There are 3 types of vinyl : sheets, tiles or planks. Your choice of vinyl type will depend on your desired look. For example, you’d choose planks if you’re after a wood floor look.
2. Phthalate in vinyl flooring
Make sure that the coating doesn’t contain phthalates (used in the past to make vinyl more flexible) to avoid affecting your home’s air quality.
3. Finish
There are 3 types of vinyl finishes. The wax-free finish is the lightest of the three and is suited for low traffic areas. The urethane finish is a little bit heavier and is more durable, making it ideal for areas with moderate traffic. Lastly, there is the improved urethane finish which has a lasting gloss that requires very little maintenance.
