Was reading spec. Says I need 16V AC - 24V AC Transformer then goes to say it needs 10V. This is on this page under power requirements. What voltage does it need and what MA should it be producing to run both bell and Hello device 100MA, 200Ma 750MA

Can the nest door bell be battery operated

No, has to be hard wired in to the old wires. I had to return mine and got a Ring due to the new house only gave me inch of wire to hook up to the Nest. The extension in the box would not go in to the hole due to the size of them. The Ring doorbell will let you use both battery or wire power plus it will operate better in cold weather than the nest as I have heard.

Each Nest device including the door bell has its own MAC address so on your Nest app will show each camera in a separate screen.

I live in Canada, does the cold weather affect the door bell operation?

I live in Edmonton AB and it gets cold. The doorbell works down to about -35C from my experience. The video quality suffers a bit at that temp but still works. I recommend mounting close to any perimeter warmth from the house and make sure it has a good power supply.

If i have a wired doorbell and chime, do I need anything further to supply additional power?

As long as your current doorbell wiring pushes 16-24V AC at 10VA, this would be all that is needed for the Nest hello to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product Great product with incredible camera. Works very well in low light as well. Installation is simple as long as you can use a drill and make electrical connections. The extension wires that come with the product work great but are somewhat limited. They are super short and have a very bulky connector. Good luck hiding it. One hiccup I had was my screen door. It prevented me from locating the device in the stock location of the doorbell. This unit is somewhat thicker then a traditional doorbell. I had to drill through my brick and mortar to mount it properly and hide the connections. All in all it took no time and was simple. Pairing to nest account was simple.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nest Hello I bought the Hello about 2 weeks ago and it is a love and hate relationship. I have a Nest Thermostat and 2 Protect Gen2 since end of August and they work perfectly. However, can't say the same with the Hello. I installed the doorbell on Oct 21. Installation was simple enough if you have some basic electrical knowledge and you follow the instructions. Video quality is excellent and material/feel is top notch. but the connectivity is another story. Out of the 10 -11 days that I've had the doorbell, less than half the time it is connected to my wifi. I check numerous times using my phone right by the door bell and wifi strength is always strong (it's only 15-20 ft away from the modem) I've reset the doorbell couple of times including a factory rest and it did not help. Check the transformer voltage and battery strength and it is fine too. Don't know this is a faulty unit or not but I will return it to Lowe's for sure.

Then there are the Nest exclusive features like person announcements on Google Home and seamless scrolling through past video on the Sightline view. Very happy with this purchase.
