Somewhat disappointed....
The buying experience and Lowes were wonderful, but my choice of this product from only website
info was a little disappointing. I went with the Bisque color, which seems to have a slight yellow cast to it,
however it isn't a deal-braker. But what disappointed me was that for almost $1000 there is no light in the freezer area, and with a lot of food stored in it there should be some sort of light when it is opened (my
Whirlpool had one!) And the fridge part doesn't have the flexibility to change shelf heights, etc,'to allow for tall items, etc. Doesn't seem well thought out...will have to live it with it!

Broke down 2 times in 4 months
Month 1. Noticed my freezer door was open overnight! When you close the refrigerator door it pushes the freezer door open. I lost everything in the freezer. And had a big mess. Service came out well over a week later.
Month 3. Freezer completely stops working. Ice tray is a puddle. Again lost everything in the freezer. Called 1 week ago today and still waiting for service. My family has gone without Ice during the heat of the summer. Spent so much on unusable food. Also came with no kick plate on a black unit. You can easily see the silver/white cheap metal feet on the bottom.

Ordinary Refrigerator
I bought this refrigerator 2 months ago. I love the color black and the textured finish. It is spacious for my needs, however, I do not like the fact that you don't have a choice of moving the shelves. The shelves are basically stationary. The shelves on the door are not movable. You cannot use all of the shelves on the door, especially if you have tall items such as soda or juice. You will have to take a shelf off the door. The vegetable and fruit bins are large, a feature I love and you can control the humidity for both. The icemaker makes ice at a fairly slow pace. I am constantly using ice and the ice bin never fills up. I run out of ice daily.

Exactly what I wanted!
I am excited about the energy savings with this new Energy Star refrigerator. The refrigerator fit perfectly into the space of my old 15 year old refrigerator and the install went very quickly, with just the doors being switched to the opposite side. It is actually 1 cu ft smaller than my previous frig, but seems to have a lot of space. Within one hour of installation, the freezer and refrigerator were very cold. I like that I can add an ice maker to this model later if I desire. I was very pleased to find a model in bisque to match my other appliances. The user guide online was easily accessible and answered all of my questions.

Want my 30 year old GE back
Worst ever. It was like they looked at my old GE and said what all can we do to make this fridge worse...and they succeeded. Old one had two sets of split shelves that would adjust ever 3 inches on either side. This one has 2 solid shelves and 1 extra slot that for me is unusable space wise. To put a carton of milk or gallon jug on top shelve you have to tilt if forward. The small slid out drawer is on the left side and not moveable and because my doors have to open right to left the drawer won't open all the way. The ice maker for this one has the electrical cord coming from the front and the plug to plug it in is in the back below the shelf so the cord angles back and down and the ice bucket hits the cord and will not go against the wall like it is suppose to. The ice maker pump sits all the way inside the back of the fridge which causes the water line to have to bend to connect to the pump which is constant stress on the connection....expect a leak over time. Also no temp control for ice box so you have to find a happy medium for the top and bottom. Also the vents in the ice box are across the bottom so you have to make sure you keep everything sitting away from the back wall. A 10 year old could have designed this thing better. Only got rid of my 30 year old ge to get something more energy efficient but would pay double the cost to have it back. I gave it away...boy, that person got a great fridge.

Freezer takes up too much space
Could of been better accommodating with an 18 in.freezer compartment and fresh food doorway could of been better accommodating with smaller vegetable bins so more shelve space could be made to hold gallon size jugs and taller wine bottles. I open fresh food doorway and need to get on floor to see anything on top shelf.great if you stand 5ft. Or under.I had to remove the 2nd shelf to accommodate my milk and wine.hardly have any room for everyday food.don't buy.waste of money.

Almost a year
We bought our GE last May and have been putting up with it since then. The major problem with it is that the control of the temperature gradient between freezer and the refrigerator is very poor. In order for bread to stay frozen and have 2-3 month half life in the freezer, the unit has to be set cold enough to freeze milk at the back of the refrigerator. We had technician come and replace the thermocouple but it didn't help and we are still living with the problem. Can't afford to replace it. Also the light and thermocouple are both exposed at top of frig unit and can be easy damaged. I nearly broke the light on several occasion. We bought it because it has a large capacity and very large vegetable draws for an upright-freezer-on-top unit, too bad it wasn't better engineered.

Not perfect
The temperature controls are in the front. Twice some one reached inside the refrigerator and bumped the controls, accidently turning the knob. Both times all the produce froze before we found it. I set it in the proper place and removed the knob. The mounting for the controls blocks setting tall items on the top shelf in the center and if you turn the item to get it in it can hit the light behind the controls. The holders in the lower part of the door extend over the shelf limiting what you can put on the shelf and pushing anything that comes within 2 inches of the end of the shelf back or preventing the door from closing.
