Description

"Timberline High Definition" shingles are unlike any others, thanks to our proprietary shadow bands. Each shadow band is applied using sophisticated, computer-controlled "feathering" technique. When combined with our randomly blended top layer, it results in a shingle with exceptional depth and dimension and a striking look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RALU from Very pleased! Tar Heel Construction Group of Bel Air, MD was an excellent company with which to work, and they did an excellent job, in my opinion. From the initial meetings with a sales representative (who was all the better for having formerly been an active roofer himself), it was clear that they wanted to first of all educate me about the basis for their recommendations, and then to provide me with the means to help make reasonable choices as needed. Once I made my decisions and they showed up to do the work, they met every expectation I had in the installation of the new roofing materials and the new gutters and leaf guards. I was very pleased with their work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DATA from These shingles look OK. These shingles look OK. They are a bit thinner than expected%2C and there was a fair bit or particle runoff right from the start. The color in full sun is significantly lighter than the online samples%2C and I have a color calibrated monitor%2C so factor than in when choosing a color%2C or%2C better yet%2C look at a sample near your home. As for durability%2C well%2C time will tell. There%27s no way to estimate the longevity until five years have passed at a minimum. Hopefully%2C the manufacturing problems from 1998-2009 have been addressed%2C and 90%25 or more of GAF customers have no issues with their roof. That�s comparable to CertainTeed and Owens Corning.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MAWA from Too soon to accurately rate shingles As of this date the shingles have only been installed for a little over 2 months. While I can say the shingles look good and are performing their job (no leaks), it is far too early to really rate these shingles. I think any shingle can perform perfectly in a 2 month period unless there was a manufacturing defect. Being free of manufacturing defects should be a pre-requisite before even asking for a review, and in addition a review for shingles with a warranty period this long can't really be considered valuable when given 2 months after installation. Ask me again in 10 years and you will get a real value-added review.

We wanted something more brown/earth tone to contrast with our light brick colored house and blend in with the mountains behind our house. I also like shingles that have some color variation so they look 3D and not just like one large slab of a single monotone color. The Shake Wood was too light and the Weather Wood was too gray,  so we chose Drift Wood HD. I think we made the right choice; they look good with the house,  the scenery around our house,  and the wife loves them. Huge upgrade over the previous gray 3tabs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by JILI from WE LOVE THIS ROOF! Make our home look perfect! Our new roof makes our home look like how we knew it always could have looked like! Our old roof had leaks and during some recent severe thunderstorms it was so nice to have the confidence that we had a first class roof on our home. We went with GAF all the way because our son works for a contractor (outside of our area) and they pretty much only do GAF products. He even provided the GAF brochures and the Ultimate Pipe Flashing product info as well. The roofer never provided anything to us! He told us that GAF supports the ultimate pipe flashing and he felt it was the best pipe flashing available.

While the Timberline HD shingle is not GAF's top of the line shingle,  make no mistake,  it is all that one could need,  and is barely %22below%22 their other shingles. I have no qualms about them. They aren't impact rated,  or specifically designed for temperature control,  but they are great. The American Harvest line offers some more unique colors that I assume put them in a slightly higher line,  but there are about 15 standard colors that the HD shingles come in,  more than many other brands' standard line.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DARE from looks nice but time will tell. Overall the products used look like a system that replaces a roof, however the engineering appears to be designed for the minimal of the limited expected warranty. Meaning: the product is thin, extremely thin. All materials used are lightweight. For something like a roof, mass matters. This is not to say the material will not last the quoted lifetime, but if my experiences have taught me anything, my gut is that this roof is too thin to live up to its word. Also, the use of "HD" is not a selling point. Again, durability, longevity, and weathering, well, the weather, is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PAFL from Too new to review? I really don't know how to rate the shingles,  so I left the ratings at a 5 because the shingles are so new. I can only say: So far,  so good! Maybe check back in x-number of years and ask the same questions? My hope is in x-number of years the 5 ratings will still stand,  and my feeling is they will,  because it's not too often that a company reach out to a consumer for an opinion of their product,  so that says a lot about the company's confidence in the product. I do appreciate the warranty very much,  too.
