Measuring Tape is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Difficult to work without it I think that farmwillie reviewed a different product. This tape has no metric scale, only SAE. I've had this tape for years. It gets some pretty rough treatment but has never failed. When I first got it, I didn't much care for it because it was so bulky. I came to realize though, that the reason for the bulk is to provide durability and excellent standout. I get close to 10 ft of standout with this which is a great time saver when working alone. Also, the blade can withstand rougher treatment compared with most tapes. Finally, the wide tape allows for some very large demarcations that my aging eyes really appreciate. After years of using this tape, my only complaint is that the case isn't marked for inside measurements. This is the only tape I have ever had that wasn't so marked. Can't figure that one out. Still, it's my favorite tape to the point where sometimes I will go and find it even when another tape is right at hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding! Ok, this is the best tape measure on market. Spme others have “features” that either you will rarely use or thet are annoying. Most will die early in their working lives, especially in sandy, dusty environments. This is a classic that has never really been improved upon. 25’ is about all you need, 30’ is too heavy and won’t fit cleanly in most contractor belts. This tape outlasts them all. The only other tape I use is a classic 10’ Stanley Powerlock (metal case,) for fine woodworking (mainly furniture,) and a 16’ Stanley Tylon (green,) for working at my bench. This is my go to tape for building though, long stand off, jam resistant, armored against shock/drops, stain, fade and corrotion resistant blade coating, positive locking mechanism. I try every new tape that comes market, but nothing beats this one. Plus it is made in USA. Get one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Like It Should I bought this tape measure to replace one of those cheaper ones that has a friction stop that is always on unless you press the button. That one lasted about two years and then wouldn't stay out anymore. Needless to say, I should have trusted my gut back then and stayed with a Stanley. This tape measure does what it should. It extends and retracts smoothly and the lock is tight. Because it is a fat max, it can be extended a long way without folding over. It fits in the tape measure pocket of my tool belt nicely also. I expect this tape measure will last much longer than that bargain tape that I just threw away.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as they say I bought 2 of these, and straight out of the box they will not completely rewind on their own. The fact that this happens on both tapes is alone reason to give this tape only 1 star. However two other features of the Fatmax warrant further consideration, but only if appropriate. THE two main features of the Fatmax is the length it will extend without bending, and although they do extend further than the traditional Stanley 25' Powerlock, I found that it was not something that I need very often, and not worth the trade-off of being fatter to hold in my hand. Also to extra two tangs on the top of the blade seem to get caught on things when I'm trying to "bring the tape back" from an extended measurement, perhaps an inconvenience to someone just accustomed to not having them there on other tapes. If you really need an extended tape and use it all the time that way, then by all means you should use this regularly, otherwise- they are good to have around when needed, but not my #1 tape. I prefer the old style 25' Stanley "Powerlock" and they don't sell them anymore, so curious how the "new and improved" version stands up to the old style...?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lock Won't Work I've had this measure for a couple of weeks and I'm bringing it back. The lock just won't stay locked. Other that that, it's pretty nice. It's got a nice wide stiff tape that is pretty hard to get to fold over. If it wasn't for the lock, I'd like it. I'm hoping that this is a defect in the particular tape I have and the other ones work. Overall, I would recommend this, but it's contingient on getting one with a lock that works right.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Measure up Hearty design. Round edges rubber corner great to handle but the rewind feature doesn’t work well. The tape should run back into the canister automatically. It doesn’t. It needs a manual start for a couple of feet. Frustrating [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tape Very nice tape measure. Easy to read and worth the money. I've dropped them from rafter height several times without breaking. (they just bounce) The belt clip is durable. The only problem is, everyone likes them and they tend to disappear on the jobsite. So keep it on you at all times. I've bought at least 6 of these in the last few years. Keep your hands off my Fat Max. Just like any other tape measure, keep the blade clean and you'll have no problems. Mud/sand is the enemy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from (25' Tape) - Looks like a great product - However. I gave the excellent reviews because, from the appearance and the brand of the product, I anticipate it will match up to those expectations. Now, comes the, "However." However, the packaging this Stanley 25' Tape was secured within, without a doubt, rates a ZERO. I've never seen any packaging, on any product, that was as difficult to remove, as that found on this product. Aside from two dotted lines on the cardboard back and, two, almost invisible, scissor images on a piece of black plastic within the package, you have nothing else to go on. There are no instructions as to how extract this product from the plastic that surrounds it. A large black piece of plastic on the back side, inside, something appearing to be part of the product is, in fact, not part of the product. You better grab a chair, a sharp pair of scissors and have no one with virgin ears within earshot, when you tackle this job. Other than that, I'm sure this tape will "measure up", to the above rating. Capt G
