how bad is the overspray with this model?

Asked by: ernestorine
Not bad at all. HVLP has about 10% over spray compared with an air compressor which has about 40% and airless which has about 60%. That means there is still some and it must be accounted for by preparation before you spray. Drop cloths, tape and shields are all part of a spray painting effort. Good luck with your projects.

Is it electric? No need a compressor?

Studio Home Décor Paint Sprayer, 20 oz is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 259.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not too shabby I do a LOT of refurbishing on furniture to give it that shabby chic look. I mostly paint everything by hand, but chairs are my arch nemesis. I bought this little sprayer to save time and sanity when painting chairs. I would be careful on how much you dilute your product. Some chalky paints can be thick and some aren't as thick. I wouldn't use what is recommended in the instruction manual. This thing really is a a time saver, but you most definitely will use a LOT more product, almost double or even trip the amount you would use by hand painting. If you want to save your sanity and don't mind using more product then this thing is absolutely fantastic. It's very lightweight and super easy to clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked this home sprayer quite a bit This sprayer made quick work of my crown molding, chair rail and floor molding. It clogged just a bit, but I think that may have been because I did not strain the paint. It spit out chunks at times. Also seemed to spray in dots until the sprayer got warmed up. One word of caution . . . do not underestimate the amount of overspray. I found dots of paint on furniture three to four feet from the area I was spraying. Sprayer definitely cleaned up easily. The hose was nice and long. Just added an extension cord. I do not recommend this for walls. Either the paint was not thick enough or sprayer was not adequate for the job. Overall, I would purchase this again but will use it for smaller projects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perefect for cabinets, furniture and small project I did a full kitchen with this little guy, It was my first time using a sprayer. Not many parts to clean. It will take you around 15 minutes. The reason is that paint dries inside and you want to make sure everything is clean. It very lite. Keep in mind that the more you use it , the more the air gets hot and the faster the paint dries. Thats why I say its great for small projects. Even though a kitchen is a big project, you only work one door at a time. Dont try to paint walls with it. Is not meant for that. Great time saver. One a note, this is not as powerful as one that you attach to a compressor, like the ones you use to paint cars or professional furniture, but it will do a good job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cabinets and refinishing furniture This paint sprayer has been amazing. I refinished my cabinets and this sprayer was used to both prime (oil based) and paint (enamel). The “spray” is fairly fine but there is some texturing. In my opinion, the texturing helps cover any imperfections and I am completely happy with this product. It is also very easy to clean! Before and after pictures below. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent option for novices! I had never used a paint sprayer before, but I wanted to paint my kitchen cabinets. Luckily, I had a helper, but he had never used a sprayer before, either. Prepping the doors and drawers took about twice as long as actually painting them. The Wagner Home Decor Stationary HVLP Paint Sprayer was perfect for our needs. We simply followed the instructions regarding how to thin the paint (we used a high-quality latex semi-gloss) and practiced briefly. It is critical to clean the sprayer if you plan to rest; we had one clog, but then quickly realized that cleaning it was simple enough. The clog was also easy to remove. Overall, we had really excellent results with the project. I'm docking a star because the paint container doesn't come with a lid; adding that would be a great improvement. For our project, we only used one color. But I think changing colors would be a breeze. Before (oak) and after (white) photos show the results. Painting 24 doors front and back, 11 drawer fronts front and back, took less than 4 days. Much of the time was due to space limitations (for painting, setting items to dry, and drying time in fairly humid conditions). Overall, very happy. And we're both converts to paint sprayers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wagner Paint Sprayer Paint sprayer worked great except you need to keep a damp rag handy to wipe the nozzle end off from time to time as it tends to collect paint on the tip. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Spraying free This is a decent sprayer if you have a small project. It would have been nice if the folks at Wagner threw in another tip/nozzle and possibly an over-spray blade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for DIY furniture projects I am not a professional painter, and had never used a sprayer before. This is also why I did not want to purchase an expensive spray system. I did tons of searching for the best and most user friendly machine before deciding to purchase this device. I am absolutely satisfied with my choice. It works perfectly, and you can't beat the price. I am using it to paint furniture. Some pros: The user manual is very easy to read and understand. The sprayer is easy to clean, and comes with a bristled brush for the nozzle. This sprayer works very well with chalk paint! (Hooray) It came out smooth, with no splatter/over-spray. The spray nozzle can be rotated for a horizontal or vertical spray, so you don't have to maneuver the spray gun and worry about gravity working against you. Some cons: There was some over-spray/splatter when I used latex paint. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
