How do I measure the surface of my countertop?

Asked by: Chars
Measure the length and the width of your countertop. Multiply the two together to obtain your square footage. Use the square footage to determine the amount of product needed to cover your countertop.

the stoneffects countertop coating is not meant to be walked on. It is the wrong product.

Can this be applied directly on concrete?

Asked by: KatKat2018
On bare/porous surfaces, the epoxy will be absorbed, and create an uneven result. Applying it to a sealed surface will deliver the best results.

CAN U USE IT ON OLD COUNTER TOP MADE OF ARBORITE FOR KITCHEN

Asked by: DEBWEB
The Stoneffects Countertop Coating adheres best to paint, or coatings. Arborite may be too smooth for the epoxy to find purchase on the surface, and this may result in fisheyes. For this reason, the Stoneffects Countertop coating is not recommended for use directly on arborite.

Applied this to our countertop and now we have spots that have holes where it didn’t cover properly.  How do we fix this?

Asked by: Cookie99
Fish-eyes can happen if the product is over extended, so make sure you have 30 square feet or less to cover. Fish-eyes can also happen if there is any surface contamination. To correct, scuff-sand the surface with 220 grit sandpaper, and wipe down with a clean cloth dampened with mineral spirits. You can then recoat the surface with a new layer of epoxy. If you'd like to review these steps in detail with a product support technician, please call 1-800-387-3625.

"Stoneffects" Countertop Coating - Step 3 is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not even close to 32 Sq Ft! Beware. This is closer to 20 Sq Ft. You try do more and it leaves waves and fish eyes. You can't repair epoxy, you need to do it all over again. Avoid. Epoxy can look great and is foolproof unless you use too little. Do not use this brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great, if you want your counter to have dimples. We bought this to use the clear epoxy to cover a beautiful and smooth wooden counter top we made. Sadly, despite lots of time put into smoothing it, we're left with a very dimpled wavy look. The boards were super smooth and level and now we're left with a a super shiny board that looks like it has acne scars!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disaster turns awesome I redid my kitchen countertop with the granite look and used this product for durability and to achieve a smooth, shiny finish.I watched a few different videos about application methods. I decided to go with the brush as suggested in the Stone effects DVD. After putting it on I was disappointed I couldn't get it very level but thought being self leveling it would be fine after it settled. I left my house for 2 days and when I came back it was not level at all. There were prominent ridges and it had some areas where it pulled away from the edges and a few areas that had holes. I had made sure it was free of any particles or anything and cleaned it 3 times prior to doing it to make sure it was clean as it is too expensive to screw up. I wasn't too sure what to do so decided to get another one to do a second coat as I loved the look where it was smooth. I wet sanded it and cleaned it again 3 times. This time using a trowel so I could get it more level. Well that was not going to happen either. It seemed no matter what I tried it was not going to be smooth and flat . By the time I got to the opposite side of my sink the epoxy had set too much to go on very well . Well out of shear frustration I went over top of it with a plastic bag and made it all uneven . I had nothing to lose at this point . If I couldn't live with it it would be a new counter top. As it turned out , when all the tape was off and I settled down enough to have closer look at the results I was amazed at how stunning it turned out. A friend who was the first to see it was also amazed at how beautiful it looked. She said we had to name it so I now call it Mystic Waters. Everyone who has seen since have all said how great it looks. It was a very happy accident as far as I am concerned now here is hoping this product stands up with use. The application sucked but it is glossy and feels durable.
