Can this be installed over brick ?

Asked by: Ronajm
In my opinion, I would say installation over brick MIGHT be possible. Fusion stone requires a flat surface to which is to be installed on. Most brick surfaces are true and flat. If you have any protruding mortar, it would need to be removed or ground off so that your surface is flat. Another thing to consider is that Fusion stone is held on by metal clips that are fastened to your surface or wall by a one inch long screw through this clip. You will need to drill each hole for each screw for each clip using a bit that can drill into brick. Then, switch out the supplied clip screws with TAPCON concrete screws, or an acceptable screw meant for use in brick or concrete. If you don't use TAPCON masonry screws, you'll need to install plastic anchors in the drilled hole to accept the supplied screws. Also, the Fusion clip screw hole may end up over top of a grout line. That could be a problem, so be aware. The Fusion stone is fairly heavy, and I believe that you must ensure that it is secured properly. If not, you risk failure. If this was me, I would strip off the brick and attach your Fusion to the surface found under it. Surface preparation and ensuring the product is solidly mounted is a must. When done correctly, Fusion stone looks EXTREMELY believable. I am very pleased with how my project turned out and will use Fusion stone again and again. I found decent instructional installation videos on the Fusion website and You Tube.

Do these come with the starter strips?

Asked by: Fitz10
The starter strips are sold separately. They are 48 inch lengths.

I understand there is a starter strip that you put on at the bottom. Is this the only strip you use? Then the remaining stones simply sit on top of each other, or is there another strip you use at the top, to retain the top row? For indoor Gas Fireplace.

If you go to the Fusionstone.ca website, they have a video. It shows what brackets are used to attach and stack the stones. http://fusionstone.ca/en/installation-videos/
