How long does the battery takes to discharge and how many batteries comes with this machine?

Asked by: james 355
from about 20-35 minutes depending on how deep the snow is and how dense it is. The unit comes with one battery and its about $ 300.00 USD to purchase a second one.

Is this machine, battery operated, powerful enough to tackle the snow remnants left by a street plow at the bottom of the driveway.

Asked by: MUNY
From my experience it depends on how hard packed the snow is, if lt is light yes no problem, once you start getting into the har packed stuff it become much more problematic

What is the difference between an 80 volt and 100 volt machine .The 80 volt is more money, less volts. Can anyone explain this to me please.

Asked by: MUNY
The price is not just about the voltage, the more important spec is about the Ampere-hour (or Ah) which relates to the battery's capacity. For example, the Ah of the 40V battery is 4.0 and the 100V is 5.0. The higher voltage literally means the DC motor inside the machine has a higher power (e.g. 2800W for the 100V blower) which makes it more greedy to Ah. If you check the specs list, you will find the 80V and 100V batteries last only 30 min while the 40V lasts 45 min. But there is nothing to worry about: the more powerful machine can finish the job faster if you let it do! This is why most of the cordless power tools manufacturers are moving towards Lion batteries with combinations providing higher voltages e.g. 20V for recent drills, drivers or 100V for snow throwers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product We received the Snow Joe iON100V-21SB Brushless Lithium-iON Cordless Variable Speed Single Stage Snowblower | 21-Inch | 100-Volt | 5-Ah just in time . We had a blizzard in New York . it just blew the snow away and we had a path instantly . I would highly recommend this product especially if you get a lot of snow like we do. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does a great job! This product works better than I had expected. It has a lot of power and is easy to use. It has great features, such as the variable speeds and an adjustable chute. It is battery operated, easy to start, and it even has headlights for use in the dark. You have the option of purchasing compatible batteries for longer lasting use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE YOU 100V ..... WOW!!! I am writing this review at 7:05am CT. I went out after 6am to clear 12" of HEAVY snow with drifts up to 15".... I previously used the 2 stage SnowJoe and purchased this one as a back up unit after reading the reviews and having my 2 stage need a warranty trade out. This 100V blower kicks the 2 stage in the you know what....Was I sweat through after using it? Yes, did I mind it? NO! Why? Because this blower cuts through the snow better and leaves literally no trail. I really want to buy a back up battery for this but can't justify it seeing how I have the 2 stage. That 2 stage will not be the "back up!". I need to go out to do the apron after the 100V battery is re-charged. We have a 3 car garage and our driveway is long - + I have a city sidewalk and the walk up to the house. The 100V cut everything but the apron on 1 charge.....I LOVE YOU 100V....thank you snow joe for inventing a better one!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Way to go Joe! The snowblower worked well in 2 inches of fresh fallen snow. It was not hard to push and I did not have to struggle to maneuver it. The pros....did what it had to do; pretty powerful machine yet very quiet; lightweight. The cons....the auger would occasionally stick and you would require to manipulate it back into position; too small for my driveway. Way to go Joe! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excited to try my first cordless snow blower As this being our first battery operated snow thrower I was excited to try it even though the $800 price tag is a bit steep but probably will drop as time goes by; like in the spring or summer. Having said that our first experience was with about 6" of powdery snow. It worked great except for one thing. The remotely activated rotating chute almost always got stuck about 3/4's of the way around. I needed to back up and then move it onwards once again. Very annoying. This happened regardless of any snow build up on the deck of the snowblower. Perhaps it needs rollers, ballbearings or some WD40. As I am not an engineer I have not tried to solve this issue. The single 100v battery more than handled our 2 car wide, 2.5 car long driveway and short front walk to the front door. The second, and hopefully our last, snow fall was maybe 3" of VERY heavy snow. The snowblower wasn't able to throw the snow as far but did an adequate job nonetheless. The scraper did a good job of clearly snow down to the pavement even if I had to backup a bit and go over a missed spot. I always operated the snowblower on the highest speed setting even though I did play around with a lower setting intermittently just to see how it worked. I wish a second battery wasn’t $300.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge improvement! I was previously using the Snow Joe iON8024-XRP, but was disappointed with the product. I wanted the iON100V-21SB because I thought it would be a better unit. I am happy to report that the iON100V-21SB is a huge improvement over the iON8024-XRP! The time it takes me to snow blow my driveway has been cut in half since switching to the new unit. Things I didn't like about the iON8024: You had to walk very slow to blow snow. The chute motor often was not powerful enough to rotate the chute. I bought the bigger capacity batteries, but they often ran out of steam before I finished my driveway. Things I like about the iON100V: You can snow blow as fast as you can walk! The chute motor rotates the chute effortlessly and quickly. I purchased a second battery. The two batteries have plenty of power left after I finish my driveway. I like that this unit is not self-propelled because all of the power goes into blowing snow and its easy to push and turn. My driveway is mostly flat, with a slight slope at the entrance. Pushing this unit on a flat surface or a down a slope is easy. Pushing this unit up a slope while blowing snow is a little tricky. To get up my slope, I pull the unit up the part I just cleared without blowing snow and then go back down the slope blowing snow. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I was only able to use it a couple of times after I got it, but it worked great for clearing the sidewalk in front of my house and driveway. The only trouble I had with it was when there was ice covering the top of the snow, than it had a little bit of trouble. What I do love is the battery can also be used in a power outage to help keep your phone charged and it also has a small light. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Snowblower Extremely quick to assemble and get running. I have gone through as much as one foot of drifted snow. Not a problem. Even wet snow, although not thrown as far as dry snow, was carried far enough to be out of the way. Some clogging of the chute with really wet snow is possible. This is a problem with my gas powered one as well. My neighbour went on holidays. I did his driveway as well as mine. There was about one third charge left in the dual batteries. Buying a second battery is worthwhile. I don't have to breathe 2-cycle fumes anymore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well!! As I live in Maine this was the perfect procuct because it clears through snow quickly and powerfully with variable speeds and really does clean up the mess promptly. I love that it little snowblower is packed with force and cans clear my l driveway so much easier! A very good brand and well made snowblower made with power. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty effective Only got to test this twice so far this winter, but so far so good. I live in Minnesota and have a 3 stall two car deep driveway plus a sidewalk to clear. First snow was about 6 inches with lots of drifts as it was fairly windy. It was very cold so the snow was pretty solid. I cleared everything with this little beast in under 20 minutes as there was plenty of power. Did it at night, so the lights were helpful to have. Afterwards, I still had 3 out of 4 bars left on the battery - so plenty of charge to help clear neighbors sidewalks, etc. I did have to back up and go over some of the higher drifts a second time occasionally, but that didn’t really slow me down. It also handled the thick stuff from the street plow at the end of the driveway, which I was very pleased about. I’m still waiting to test it on a nice wet, heavy snow to see how it does, but I’m very happy with the purchase so far. No fuss with the battery compared to a gas machine. Much quieter as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I really like my snowblower.. It is quite powerful for it's size. The only things I don't like about it is when you only have one battery it has to go into the same side every time. I wish I could alternate sides. It also doesn't like going from one surface to another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 21" Cordless 100 Volt Snow Blower I haven't had a chance to use the snow blower yet, however, it took 3 minutes to set up & I can say that the ease of operation is outstanding. Every option on this unit is battery operated to include; LED headlights, snow thrower direction shoot, and the auger speed. So far I am 100% satisfied. I can't wait til it snows so I can use it! Capability review to follow, once it snows here in Michigan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine! Purchased this unit about a month ago, mainly to clear the sidewalk next to my house which is ~150' long. It works better than expected; in 20 min usage it only drains 1/4 of the battery. Even with harder/walked on snow it clears right to the pavement with ease. The only consideration is that it is not self propelled like gas powered units, but regardless, I am very happy with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, Impressed... Purchase in summer as last winter was a back breaker. Finally got to use it with about a 14" dump and then a couple of days of more snow. Quick and easy to use. I got about 35 minutes out of a charge, never ran out of juice so perfect for our needs. Things to consider, no drive but it rolls pretty easy, and if the snow is wet, you may need to clear the blow hole but it's simple enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Just Works Hits all the notes for me: light, easy to handle, quite, no-fumes, doesn't need to be "started". I expect lower maintenance issues - electric is so much simpler than gas. The street plow made an 18"+ pile at the end of the driveway. By shaving off snow from one side I move the whole lot without any stress. The battery lasted 30 minutes as advertised and recharged in 100 mins.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from battery operated snow blower with led lights It is december 23rd and i live in the chicago,il area! Where is the snow???? Un able to use it, yet. I do have to see that the box came all torn up on one side. My husband was missing the screws to put the shoot on, so he sent me one in the driveway with a flashlight to find the screws, and i did!!!! I was so lucky!!! Looks nice. I want to see how it works when it snows

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine This my third year and it has been through a lot of snow. I am 80 years of age and love this machine. It ploughs through lots of snow, not bad in wet snow , light weight also even look after my neighbours sidewalk. I hav 2 batteries but seldom need the 2. Very happy with this product. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my use Finally got around to being able to test this out this past weekend. Works great-let me clear my 70 ft driveway with ease, even did my neighbors driveway and some sidewalk before battery died. Throws dry snow pretty far, lightweight and easy to use. Battery recharges quite fast as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First snow of season did a great job. Had this since late last winter and finally got to use it. First measurable snow of season on 10/25/2020 was 12" of heavy, wet snow here in Eagle, Colorado. My driveway is 25' wide and 75' long. This thrower did the job in about 15 minutes (as I was familiarizing myself with its capabilities). The wet snow did clog the chute 2 times but what I found was if I kept the auger running after completing a pass it would clear better and not clog. It would not handle the driveway throat where plows had pushed up snow as it had seemed to have frozen a little. I expect that for more common and typical snows here in Colorado (light fluffy stuff) this guy will handle pretty much anything winter will send us. Battery capacity seemed barely affected by this use but I will comment back later on a more controlled observation. The unit has capacity for 2 5 AmpHr batteries. After a single use I was impressed with performance and would recommend this product based on this single use. I will follow up as I use it more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good but havent had a chance to use I received this snow blower for free in turn for my review but it has not snowed since I received it. That said I have looked it over and it appears to be well built and that it will hold up to the snow. I can't wait to try it! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
