Rated 3 out of 5 by from Curious failure rate In June of 2016 I installed a GFCI to protect a water feature I had just built. By winter this unit had failed. Could not be reset. Removed it from the circuit and put it on my test bench with a KNOWN good ground. The device can not be reset. I'm sending it back for warranty replacement now. Will see how prompt they are about honoring their warranty. Also have one that WON'T trip. On my hot tub. DANGEROUS problem that MUST be rectified. I have another GFCI protecting my jetted tub. Because the recent failure I decided I should go around and test all my GFCI's and I found the one that is protecting the hot tub WILL NOT TRIP! So if there's a ground fault - well, there hasn't been one yet. I do good work. But still, when you push the test button (which should be done periodically) it should trip and interrupt power. So out of six installed, two have failed. One failed in safe mode and one failed in DANGER mode. If you buy this product be careful. Check your GFCI's often. At least twice a year, maybe even monthly if you choose. These should be installed in the laundry room to protect the appliances AND the user from electrical problems. They should be installed within six feet on countertops and appliances that present a cook working surface such as a countertop where wet food may be handled. For more specific requirements on the codes search for "NEC Requirements for GFCI". Recommended - but with reservations.
