what is the proper diameter forming tube to install 4x4 posts?

Asked by: wildone
6" form will give you the base for a 4x4 post, but it is better to go bigger - this will give you wiggle room for your framing (rough cut 4x4 only gives you 3/16" corner to edge of form). The larger form will also allow for more expansion/contraction of whatever you are framing (i.e. a deck posts). I personally would use an 8" form for a 4x4 post, or maybe a 10" depending on what I'm forming for.
