Is it possible to get a diagram like in the 7 step stringer for the 5 and 6 step stringers so that I can see that I am getting the right ones. Cheers

Asked by: Tommy657
Hello Sir, You can have a look to the following link : https://pylex.com/en/search?l=en&q=steel+stair+riser This will help you to get to the specs sheet of the 5,6 and 7 steps steel stringer. There's also an installation video showing how to properly take the height of your staircase to know how many steps is required for your project. Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

For a 48 in wide step would 2 or 3 stringers be required and what is the recommended tread depth

Asked by: Jimmy dispatch
We just built a five-step stairway for our deck that is 44 inches wide and 3 of these metal stringers is the way to go. The third stringer ensures that the steps are firm with no flex when you use them...and gives greater overall integrity/strength to the set of stairs. As for tread depth, each step on the stringer is 8 inches deep which is a comfortable size for anybody. Hope this helps.

I have a deck , its height from ground to deck is 52 inches. Can you please tell me , do I need to use 6 step stringer or 7 step stringer. If non of them fits exactly what are my stringer options ?

Asked by: Surinder G
Hello Sir, For your 52" deck you will need to get the 6 steps stringers. Ours stringer has 7.5" rise, so 52" / 7.5 = 6.9 or 7 rises, however the 7th rise if the deck itself. Which is why you need 6 steps, have a look to the specs sheet of the 6 steps steel stringer : http://pylex.com/content/dt/13906DT.pdf The ½" will be spread throughout the staircase. Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

I would like to add a set of stairs off of my Existing deck it’s10 feet off the ground. I do not want to have a straight run. I will be adding a smaller deck part way to ensure a safe stairway. Can you recommend what I should use to Achieve this. Thanks

Asked by: Izzy1414
Hello Sir, If you wish to have 2 sets of staircase to get up to 10 feet, you will need to buy two 7 steps stringer as the small deck halfway will be the 15th steps. For an staircase 41" and below we recommand to use 2 stringer, for 42" to 60" we do recommand to use 3 stringer and above that you must use one stringer every 24" maximum. Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

Item 13905 and 13906 can not join together with 13920 bracket. 13905 look like 2x3 wood size. 13906 look like 2x4 and 13920 only accept 2x4 frame. the 5step is smaller.

Asked by: Kenny 65
Hello Sir, The bracket 13920 has been design considering the beam size difference by adding bolt and nut to fill the "gap". Have a look to the installation video : http://pylex.com/en/products/13920-steel-stringer-connector-bracket. It will explain what I'm explaining above. Anything else, pleae let us know. Thanks

can your stringers carry the weight of a stone step?

Asked by: mwil028
Hello Sir, Each of them can support 100 lbs per square foot, which is the load bearing capacity requirement by the Canadian National Building Code. Depending of the weight of the stone step, you will be able to find out if it remain in that range Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

5-STEP STRINGER is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not meet building code requirements Do not buy this product since it is not certified to meet building code requirements in Canada. I bought this product for my project, but it is does not have engineering specs that are certified by the provincial engineers that it meets building code. I've contacted Pylex directly and they confirm that they do not have the certifications. The city inspectors had me remove it and use wood stringers to pass inspection.
