Essential cleaner at any affordable price
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cleaner is exactly what is required to clean the brine tank of your water softener. Ignoring this maintenance step is like never changing the oil in your car. It's not complicated either. Unscrew cap, pour the whole bottle into your tank and press the recharge button on your softener. Do this every quarter of if you want to stretch it out do it at least twice per year. However you want to approach your maintenance, buy a years worth at once so you'll be encouraged to to use it. You won't let the bottle sit and collect dust if you have it but you will font excuses not to buy it ad a routine.

Really cleans the resin!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a Sears water softener which is made by Whirlpool that is 11 years old. It has not been working that great lately and also had developed a red iron bacteria problem. Since buying a new water softener really isn't in the budget right now I decided to try this. WOW, one dose and the softener is working great again! The water feels much better and the red bacteria staining is gone. I love this stuff, and I will be using it at least a couple of times a year from now on. One last thing I want to point out for the people that like to shop on Amazon like me. The price at Lowe's is half the price of Amazon. Lowe's has by far the best deal around on this.

Quick Results
We purchased our water softener new and have had it just over two years. At the two year mark is when I started noticing a difference in our water softness and how it felt. The salt level was fine and that's when I noticed the reservoir for the cleaner I had never noticed before. I immediately ran out for a bottle of this and dumped it in. We noticed results within 24 hours with how our water felt. Being in Las Vegas, the water is hard and this quick fix made all the difference. I'll definitely be using this often as recommended.

Keep it Soft.
After some issues with my Whirlpool water conditioner, I called Whirlpool for advice. They urged me to use a cleaner at each salt application. That's been a couple of years ago and I have had no problems since. It's still necessary to disassemble and clean the strainer fittings from time to time, especially with iron-laden well water such as we have, but it's not too bad a chore if you can keep from dropping the tiny pieces. I checked my softener's efficiency with an expensive kit, and it is still softening properly after six years.

Seems to work...
Although I cannot see inside of my water softener, I did notice a hard black residue inside the outlet of the main valve assembly when I installed a new seal kit. I cleaned it out the best that I could before I reassembled the valve assembly. Once I was done I poured a bottle of this cleaner into my brine tank and ran a regeneration cycle. I have PVC pipe for my drain outlet and the same black residue was inside of it. After the regeneration cycle was complete I checked the drain PVC and noticed it was clean and clear of the black residue. I have to assume that my softener is now clean as a whistle inside!

Get's the job done
Over time, our water was getting an odor to it. We thought it was the water heater, but it turned out to be the water softener. I tried using bleach to clean it, but the odor would return soon after. Then I tried this product, and it not only works well, but only needs to be added once every 4 months. It's well worth the price.

Cheap Insurance
We had to replace our old water softener this summer with a new Whirlpool softener (from Lowe's of course).
The plumber who installed the new softener recommended the cleanser. Said he has used it for years and it helps to extend the life of the unit. Easy to use too. Just add a bottle every 3 months and you're good to go. If it's good enough for a pro then why not me? I love Lowe's!
