Description

This Whirlpool gas cooktop comes with plenty of space and useful features for daily use. Its continuous cast iron grates are particularly great for sliding pots and pans from one burner to the other and avoid spills. The SpeedHeat burner generates a power of 15,000 BTU, to deliver the high temperature needed to bring water to a quick boil or to stir-fry food. When you need a precise, low temperature to simmer sauces or melt butter, the 5000-BTU AccuSimmer burner proves particularly useful. The appliance is equipped with EZ-2-Lift hinges, so you can lift the grates without having to remove them for quick access to spills. The raised SpillGuard edges prevent liquids from leaking out of the cooktop. The sealed burners also prevent food from falling inside and simplify the cleanup process. This cooktop can be installed near a wall oven or separately.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Moehair from Looks expensive [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently had a gas line installed and wish I had done this earlier in my cooking years. I hated my smooth top electric, and always wanted to convert to gas. I looked for a long time at cooktops, online then in and out of stores. this unit had everything I wanted, five burners, grates that were cast iron and lifted up but not come free, unless you wanted to disingage, so you are not scratching the stainless, much easier to clean. Only wish the knobs were metal instead of plastic, but not a deal breaker. Waiting for tile installer!

Overall, I've been very pleased and love the different size burners. The grates are very heavy, and it is a nice visual addition to our kitchen. However, I removed a star for the knobs. They are plastic, feel very cheap and will melt if you place a hot pan near them (my husband melted two the first week - not cheap to replace). Additionally, the knobs are placed fairly far back into the cooktop. If you are used to a different layout, they can be cumbersome as you get used to their placement.

They didn’t get delivered till Thanksgiving. I wasn’t upset over the time it took to get them delivered mostly because my kitchen remodel wasn’t completed yet. They were installed before Christmas. I really do love this cooktop. It is really easy to clean when I have a cooking mishap. The only negative I would have is that the ignition is way too sensitive. You just push on a button accidentally and it starts sparking and trying to ignite. The noise alone kinda freaks me out. I haven’t had any issues with the cooktop.

The stainless steel wipes up easily. The grates swing out of the way for cleaning. There are five burners rather than four in some models. There are three size burners. However, there are two features that should be improved. The control knobs are plastic, and if you accidentally touch them with a hot pan, they will be ruined. These knobs should be stainless steel. Also, Whirlpool makes a griddle that fits only over the right side of the cooktop. It should fit over the left side where there are two same size burners. The right side has a medium and small burner which heats the griddle unevenly.

As was popular at the time, this house had a glass cooktop that made evenly heating a pan or changing temperatures during the cooking process nearly impossible. We read through many reviews and descriptions on Lowe’s website until we found the perfect stainless steel, 5 burner, gas cooktop. The Memorial Day sale through Lowe’s was excellent and allowed us to make this big purchase guilt-free! It arrived at the location near us two weeks later and is being installed in our kitchen now. It looks great, is easy to clean, and works like a dream! We are so excited to use this to step up our cooking game!!

Is well made with one exception, that being the five cheap plastic turn on/off switches. When you take them off, they are as light as plastic can be. With regular use, the shiny plastic veneer will wear off, unsightly to put it mildly. Considering the price of this cooktop, stainless steel should have been what the switches are made of.

We like this cooktop. The burners function well. Occasionally one of them will not fire up the first try, but so far that has been rare. Good heat spread, and the small burner goes very low, even lower than you need for simmering. We like the continuous rack across the cooktop. That is pretty normal these days, but we still really like it. This is really easy to clean. The black rack hinges up to make it easy to clean under it, or it lifts off for deeper cleaning or to take off completely. The rings around each burner also simply lifts off for cleaning. Great design! The knobs are just plastic, but that is normal. If the get worn or damaged, they can be replaced.

Rated 2 out of 5 by cooker from Impossible to clean properly [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The stainless area around the center burner always turns brown, and I've NEVER been able to totally get that the right color. Fortunately, it 'hides' under the parts. Also difficult to clean the burners without using abrasives. There's more - the black grates NEVER are black, rather shades of dark grey and brown. They appear to be very porous. Fortunately, this is one of the lesser expensive appliances, and I look forward to replacing it soon with something either black or white, and certainly another brand.
