I have a family of 4, just curious if this unit will be good, or if I need to go to a larger size.
I have a family of 4 as well which seems fine to us. However, I do recommend you go for the 44k if your family tends to use more softened water

My water softener do not work anymore. What can be done?
Buy a new one. Often times the price for repairs just isn't worth it. A new system will last you at least 10 years and you will have peace of mind knowing you have a reliable system.

looking for a water softner how much to install Whirpool 33,000 Grain Water Softener or you recommend any other brand
Very easy to install! We love it! Very quiet. Would recommend it !

Had the 33,000 grain installed a few days ago. The water has a salty taste. Any idea why?
Drinking water should not be softened - especially if there are health issues like congestive heart failure or salt reduced diets . In some newer construction houses though there are only two lines run to save money. So check under your sink and see whether there are three pipes or 2.
If there are only 2 pipes, then your only cost effective solution is to soften only the water running to the hot water tank. This is actually recommended by some municipalities to keep excess salt out of the sewer system. If you redo this way all cold water will be hard, hot water will
be soft, and warm water will be blended.

Hi my municipality requires an air gap. Does an air gap come as part of this?
All municipalities require an air gap installation for softeners. It's part of the plumbing code, and avoids sewage getting into your water supply. There is no air gap with the softener because, unlike a dishwasher, each installation situation is different. If your installer can't show you the air gap in his installation, or doesn't know what one is, get another installer.

We have 3 mg/L of Iron and 41 grains of hardness.. will this unit be able to handle those amounts?
My water hardness was 39 and it does just fine. I love my new softener. It is very efficient and uses very little salt.

better than expected
The local water dealer wanted $1,300 to replace my worn out unit so I looked for alternatives. This unit was easy to install, easy to program and I liked the on-line support information which included how to clean the valve should it become plugged! So there is no more need for expensive dealer service calls. It also takes less than half the space of my previous unit which gives me more room for other things in the garage.
I called my water company to learn the hardness to program into the computer. There is no need to get a test kit.
The unit has been working for a week now and the water is perfectly soft. In an afternoon's work, I saved $900.

Easy set up; operates well!
We live in the country and are on well water. While our water is not extremely hard, we did feel the our appliances would benefit from having a water softener. My husband installed the unit himself (he ran a plumbing line from the well tank to the unit and another line from the unit to the house water supply, with a shut off valve between the unit and the house line, in case of emergency). He also installed an electric outlet on the pump house for the softener. We saw an immediate change in the softness of our water and in the cleanliness of dishes and clothes from the washer. We are very pleased with the unit and would recommend it to everyone.

Works great for hardness and iron
This water softener does an excellent job at turning my very hard, high iron well water into very soft, pleasant, iron free water for my house. I have been using this softener for about 3 weeks now and I can't think of a reason that anyone should pay more for an expensive system. For the price I paid and the results it has provided this is definitely the best bang for your buck. Don't forget to register the product on the website and purchase 3 bottles of the cleaner. When you do this and upload proof of purchase for the cleaner it automatically extends the manufacturer's warranty from 1 year to 5 years. I am very pleased with this purchase

Works better than high dollar machine!
I believe in doing business with small business and staying away from box stores as much as possible, however, when an individual company does you wrong, you tend to find a brand on your own that works well.
This worked better than the softner that we bought first and it's easier to use! We didn't have to spend $5000.00! Whirlpool has always been a great brand and this is one of the reasons why! It beats the competition! It corrected water flow problems within the first couple of days and the water difference was phenominal in just a few hours! No more white rings in the sinks, toilets, on dishes, etc! Just be careful, it makes the shower time slick. LOL We love it.

Well thought out design
I've had softeners for over 47 years in several homes. My last on was a GE installed in a new home. It failed several times even as I cleaned the valves and orifices. It was a timer based system and ate salt like crazy since we are on city supplied well water in N. Cal. This unit is dead quiet when recharging and after 4 months of use has hardly used a visible amount of salt in the tank. Our water now is very soft! The unit is actually smaller than the 10 year old GE and allows me more room in the garage. I do realize that all the softness are designed and made by one company. Verified by analyzing the mechanical components in the IPB.

Works as advertised
We have never had a water softener before moving to a new area where the water has a high level of chlorine and is 7 on the hardness scale. After researching the many options available (many very expensive) to us and trying to justify the high price of many softener/filter combinations we decides to try the option of this softener and the matching whole house filter. We are really loving the lack of chlorine taste in the water and the way our skin feels after showering. So far everything is great. This unit cost a tenth of what a major softener company quoted us and a twelfth of what the couple across the street paid. If it only lasts 5 years it's a bargain.

A Great WaterSoftener
The Whirlpool WHES33 water softener I purchased from Lowes is one of the best I have ever owned. My family and I noticed a tremendous difference in the quality of our water within a very few hours after we installed it. The installation was very easily done and we did not have to pay the extremely high charges that a plumber would have charged us since we were able to do the job ourselves. (With the help of my older son who was once in the water softener business.) The sales person and the cashier at Lowes were very polite, professional and friendly. I look forward to shopping at Lowes for any future needs that arise in the home I recently purchased.

Do NOT buy this softener
The Whirlpool 33,000 grain water softener never worked, straight out of the box. Called whirlpool and they decided it was the control board so they shipped another one, it arrived week later. Still doesn't work, same error code. Called whirlpool again, they guess its a switch but said I could ask for a service tech to come out and I said yes, please send a technician. I also left a voice mail message for the customer service rep's manager to call me; he never did. Neither did the service tech. Called back again, they have no record of the request for service. Placed the request the second time. That was 2 weeks ago, still no call. Bottom line, poor quality item and even worse customer service from whirlpool.
