Description
This power steamer is ideal for the quick and effective removal of all types of wallpaper. The 1-gallon tank has a 1500 Watt heating element that provides up to 70 minutes of steam time from one fill. It comes with a 8'' x 11'' steamplate for large work areas, and a 3" x 6" steamplate for small work areas. It also comes with a 12' cool touch hose allows the user to work over a large area.

Would this work to soften water based tile adhesive so I can scrape it off and re-tile my kitchen back splash?
I’m answering my own question as I bought one of these units to try. Worked great, turned a daunting task into two hours work. Keep in mind that my tile was over plywood. Might be too intense for gypsum board.

Excellent home use steamer. Worked very well helping to remove our 12" wallpaper border, greatly sped up the process. We only used distilled water.

Not for use on wallpaper that has been painted
This product would not work on the wallpaper that I needed to remove because it had been painted with at least two colors of paint. It just wanted to make a mess of things even though a used a thing to score the wallpaper. I suppose there was just too much paint on the wallpaper otherwise the steamer would probably have worked.

It works
I have 2 layers of wallpapers on my walls. This steamer worked great. I would recommend putting down plastic where you are steaming because of the leaking so you don't ruin the floors and getting a towel to lay the steamer on. I followed the instructions and let it warm up for 15 minutes. Because my wall has so many layers, I held it on the wall for about 30-45 seconds and the wall paper came off super easy. Definitely recommend this.

Liked: large water capacity, helps get the wallpaper adhesive off
Disliked: pretty leaky so the floor gets pretty wet and sometimes hot water drips on you

A Must Have If You Are a Novice
I have started doing projects on my own for the first time, and I am a senior. I purchased the house I have now 3 years ago. The wallpaper in the kitchen needed to be replaced then. So, about 2 weeks ago, I decided to take it on alone. So, I do my usual, get on the net and do my research and go to Lowe’s and buy everything in sight that was mentioned to remove the old and hang the new. One thing I purchased was the Wagner Power Steamer, but I didn’t open it. I used the scorer and the spray that guaranteed to make it easier to remove it. I was just about ready to call in backup when I realized that I had forgotten to try the Wagner Steamer. My outlook has turned around, and I am on my way to getting the old down. The problem I ran into was that the prior owners had papered over paper so I have had to remove two sets, not just one. I highly recommend the Wagner Steamer. I do not think I could have gotten two sets of paper down without the steamer. As far as likes and dislikes, I do agree with one of the reviews I read. I wish it had an on/off switch. Also, I wish the hose was a little more flexible. However, for the price, I didn’t expect it to work as well as it does. I haven’t had any leakage of hot water after the water is fully heated. It is full steam ahead. I am not doing full walls so I think the steamer would be a little easier for me to handle. Although a lot of mine is at the ceiling, it is only border and still easily managed. Used the steamer in photos 1 and 4. Did not use it in 2 and 3.

Only way to remove wallpaper
It worked great! Made removing wallpaper so much easier. Won’t remove any more wallpaper with out it.
