a lifesaver!
I had to paint the fascia trim on our house before getting a new roof in a few weeks. I was ready to buy the powered version of this roller, but found this much cheaper version at the local store. Because I had to be on top an extension ladder, I needed something I could operate with one hand without having to load paint while up on the ladder. This item did exactly what I needed. The edging feature worked perfectly for me. Sure, cleanup is "involved" but considering I didn't need a roller pan, it's really not a big deal. and of course, the whole unit is plastic, so you have to be careful when using it not to force anything beyond it's design strength to handle.

worked great until it broke
I bought this because it looked like it would be good for small wall sections and could be used to cut-in edges. It did all of that very well. The edge guard worked surprisingly well, creating a clean line right into the edge of the wall and the ceiling. Another feature I like is the edge guard can be folded out of the way when not needed. Clean up is a bit of a pain but not that bad for this type of tool. But it was during cleanup when I was trying to draw some warm soapy water into the tube, using the plunger handle, when the plunger handle broke off. Without the handle the tool is useless. Maybe I was pulling too hard or too fast, but the parts should be more durable.

Great concept
I loved it. I didn't have to tape anything. The only thing I think were downfalls is sometimes the roller would have a tendency to slide instead of roll. The other thing is corners are impossible to get and last but not least it was time consuming trying to figure out sometimes which way to adjust the roller for different angles. It would be great if it came with a corner peice for the walls by the ceilings or corners in general. I would even like to see if you could purchase it sepearate. Besides that I painted 3 walls from start to finish with clean up and the way it was before starting about 4 hours. Thank you Wagner!!! Great product!!!!

Product works great small learning curve
I just repainted my 2000 sq ft house interior and many rooms had several colors on the walls. I am not sure what happened to the few who gave this product a low rating maybe they were not using it correctly. The angle you adjust the trim brushes and the angle you run it against the ceiling and where you hold it on the long handle all affects the results. After a small learning curve I painted all the rooms around ceilings, window trim, base trim without any tape!! I did have to brush my corners but with all the cleanup and paint color changing I saved a amazing amount of time. The edging takes up all the time and this product knocked it out of the park. Cleaning time was not bad , we just live in a
instant results world and forget the saved time on painting.
Thanks Wagner

Finally an edger that works!
The Smart Edger is great! Plain and simple. It's an excellent value. It's FAR less messy than anything else you've ever tried. It does exactly what you expect every edging tool you've already wasted your money on to do and the Wagner Smart Edger does it flawlessly. We do a lot of painting and edging has always been the ugly task no one wants to do. I've tried every edging system you can see in your local home hardware supply store and this little gem blows them all out of the water.
I do have one complaint - Where can I buy replacement rollers for this excellent tool?

Not as good as it sounds
I had seen a similar product on TV and wanted to give this one a try. Filling it with paint was easy enough but the roller couldn't even roll to keep up with me. Most of the time I was basically just rubbing it against the wall. The tiny brush that is meant to get into the corners did a very poor job. It took a while just for it to grab enough paint to do its job and would then flip in the wrong direction. The clean up looked very involved but, honestly, I'm not even going to bother. This was such a lame painting tool that it's going straight into the trash. I went back to my roller edgers before I had even finished one door frame. Too bad, it looked pretty awesome.

Best edger for textured walls
No need to tape! As fast as I could move this tool I painted along door jams, baseboard, and best of all wall & ceiling. Need to work it up/down and fill roller with paint before doing horizontal surfaces.
It does take a little while to clean and re-lubricate before storing.

Take your time
Once you get the hang of using this product it's great. Just be patient and go slow at first. Also use the lubricant that comes with it. Make a huge difference
