Puts off great air
I was a little worried because I didn't do a lot of research before I went in to buy a fan. I was having a shrimp boil, in June....in Houston, and needed to have some good air flow so we wouldn't melt outside. I have a pergola, or shade arbor, with a fan but if you know anything about Houston weather its just not enough air. So I bought two of these and placed them on both side of the patio. This fan puts of really great air flow. When I first turned the fans on, it turns on low, and I could have sworn that was the high. Needless to say we all stayed cool outside from the air this fan provided.
Also did great keeping bugs away.

Moves Some Serious Air
I wanted a solid 20" fan and was tired of the inconsistency in the various plastic bladed "box" fans that you find everywhere. I have a smaller Utilitech on my desk at work, and was glad to see they made a 20" fan. This fan moves some serious air, even on the Low setting. It really can't be compared to a regular box fan, the best of which can't move as much air on High as this one does on Low. I use it in the evening to bring cool air in from the outside (I don't have AC), and it cools off the house very quickly. The only downside is that it is somewhat loud, the price you pay for more CFMs. But I'm more than willing to live with that considering it's performance.

2 years of daily use later...
This fan is awesome. While there may be better, I'm not sure. The deal for this is outstanding. I've had to clean the fan once or twice already, as it just shreds air like tomorrow. Set up is a breeze, and this sucker still impresses me. Hot summer days? Bam, this fan has it covered. Want to block out unnecessary noise in the house? Put this on. It also acts as a sound buffer so you can have a bit more privacy in your room or area you're in.
Love this fan. I use it every night, and throughout the day. Thing still runs like a champ after thousands of hours of use already.
Highly recommend this to anyone needing a kick butt fan in their home.

AWESOME.. AWESOME.. AWESOME
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in a 3 story, 4 BR, 2BA, basement, attic, very old, brick home... the ones with cement walls through out the house. My house is always super hot in the summer; the kind of hot, where you have to stand directly under a fan to keep from sweating when you get out the shower. Box fans suck, and home is too big for air conditioner (my electric bill would be sky high)... Brought this fan, and OH MY GAWD, it cooled my ENTIRE house down in less than 1hr. I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE it. It actually feels like an air conditioner but without the high price. 2 thumbs up... 5 stars... get this fan, you wont be disappointed.

Great Fan
Bought 2 of these.....Researched for 2 days as I needed a fan that moves a ton of air to keep the loft cool in my A-Frame. These fans did the trick with placing 1 in the loft (at the rear of the house) to exhaust the hot air out the open window....and the other fan was used for intake air in front of the sliding front door on the lower level...the fan in the loft was set at 2 and the other one on the lower level was set at 1. Reason for the different setting was that I need to exhaust more air than I intake..this creates a vacuum effect...Cooled the house from 83* to 72* in 20 min. Stay cool! Time will tell on how long they will last but they are quite compared to my box fans that I trashed last night.

Effective & powerful but loud
Purchased about 18mos ago. Able to fully adjust up or down, medium weight, carrying handle makes easy to move and clean. Could use a slightly longer power cord. This is a utility fan with powerful air velocity even on the lowest setting. I like the white noise, but it does hum louder than average on the lowest setting and could bother some. It has 3 settings in which I’ve only used briefly to dry a project. Primarily used indoors everyday during the warmer months here in Texas (9 of 12mo) to push cooler air around the house which it’s great at. Have also used the strong air flow to blow away mosquitos on the patio. Good purchase for the price.

Customer reviews heavily influence my purchases
This fan cools quite well; I noticed an almost immediate drop in the temperature and could feel air circulating through the house. The reviews talking about this fan "moving lots of air" are correct. The reviews saying the fan is "loud" are correct too; seeing this is a "high velocity metal fan" one should expect the noise level. Also, one review stated the speeds of the fan are "high, higher, and highest" - this is true of the product too. The sale price was too good to pass up! Final verdict: GREAT fan for circulating and cooling, but not so good if you're expecting a whisper quiet fan. I definitely find the noise more bearable than the heat! I would recommend this product.

Best home fan at a great price
Have 4 of these and about to buy a 5th. In SW FL and we use them for cooling down the house during the winter months. People need to pay attention to the CFM's (Cubic Feet per Minute) when buying a fan. You can purchase industrial fans that produce 6,000+ CFM but I've yet to find another home fan other than this one that pushes 6,100 CFM. With windows open I run all of them 24/7 for days on end when the low is 60 or below at night and the high doesn't get above 80 during the day. They keep the entire house at 70 or below during the day in those conditions. Not exactly quiet when on high speed but the volume of air they push is the trade off. Quality is better than expected for the price.
