This shade sail is 10 x 12 and it states it fits in a square 10 x 10 frame. I don't understand that. Also will water collect on top in the center and cause it to droop?
That does seems odd. I have a 10 x12 shade that fits within a 10 x 12 frame. As for water collect in the center, you are correct. It does so during a rain storm if the rain downpour is heavy. It doesn't necessarily cause permanent droop as the water continuously drains. But in the end I decided to install a center cross beam to support the center and let the rain drain to each side. Unlike like the shade bracket installation instructions, I installed the corner and shorter side brackets with the lower screw holes in the corner metal supports, and then installed the center brackets aligned with the higher screw holes in the metal supports to provide a slight slope.

Does the shade sail let water flow through onto furniture?
It's not rain proof, just shade. Nonetheless, love the pergola.

Was wondering if the shade itself is 8'X 10', or is made to fit in an 10' rectangular structure hence smaller? In my case I have exactly 10' of deck to mount on, so that would be the outside edge of my structure.
Yes the shade itself is 8x10. The structure is outside of this. I took a 8x12 and cut my wood to 8.5x12.5 and the 8x12 shade fit on it no problem as the straps they come with to mount are decently long.

I’ve ordered the 10 x 12 but am now concerned the 12 foot span will cause the horizontal cedar post to sag. Is this an issue?
I am 1 year in with a 12' span and so far so good.

What height is this pergola?
The height is up to you. We recommend 8ft and 10ft at the most.

What size is the cover? Does this include the brackets and cover? Is the cover water resistant or does it allow water through?
The shade comes in various sizes and even custom. Everything comes in the shade kit for mounting. The shade does let water wick through and we are coming out with a waterproof version next year. Please check our site www.tojagrid.com for all the info.
Thanks

Canvas excellent BUT.....
Canvas material is excellent but the buckle straps tore after 3 months of use. Straps tore after rubbing against brackets in the wind. I expected greater durability for $350

A canopy should last years not months!
Why not real canvas as tried and tested on safari? At these prices the canopies should be.

Strap failure after 2.5 summers
Shade seemed well constructed when purchased and installed, but 2 of the attachment straps have broken in less than 2.5 summers (diligently taken down and stored indoors in the winter). Straps are still intact but the stitching that attached the strap to the shade failed. Seems premature after 2.5 summers. Looking for another solution that lasts a reasonable amount of time. Also the updated Toja instructions recommend taking down not just over winter but whenever there is a storm. Although it is not particularity difficult to remove/re-install, seems a little too “high maintenance” for my liking. Don’t want a product that I am always having to think about whenever a storm occurs and then scramble to find a ladder to remove/re-install.
