Rated 1 out of 5 by Drowning in Leaves from Fan SHATTERS, Engine BURNS - 1 Season Shoddy parts and Safety Hazard: After 1 year of use the internal fan for the engine shattered and flew at high speeds. Thank goodness for the casing that kept it from hitting me and my kids. I learned this after the machine started to smell like it was burning, which it was, because the fan was no longer cooling down the engine. This cheap part breaks easily causing your investment to become worthless with only 1 season of use. While you can get a replacement under warranty, the item has to be in stock. There is no waitlist for customers like me in need of a replacement under warranty, "since they have so many customers in need of this item". Instead, you will be notified when it is in stock, and must beat the rush by calling again in hopes of getting one of the now in stock items. Alternatively, you can be given a store credit only good on the main business website, but since their are no replacements available, you'll just have to get a different item altogether and find another solution for your leaves. Takeaway: This item worked great when it was working, but it doesn't last. When it breaks, you'll just have to get in line with the rest of us looking for a solution for the leaves in our yards.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Flyboy52 from Sunjoe Electric Leaf Mulcher motor does not last. I have had two of these Sunjoe leaf mulchers and both have not lasted. First unit lasted one fall season and then at the beginning of the next fall season, the motor started for a short time and then started smoking and seized. I bought a another one and it worked for 2 fall seasons. At start of 3rd fall season after 30 minutes of use the engine started smoking and then seized. I would not recommend the Sunjoe SD616 Leaf Mulcher. They do not last. I am promised a new unit when available but it will be too late for this season.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Dissapointed from Not worth it! Motor seized in first season. While still under warranty contacted SnoJoe and was very dissapointed in their service. They responded to my e mails initially then nothing, never heard from them again. Would not recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Luke from Great product. Just know it's limits. The regular line used in the machine won't really break down dry sticks that are like .5" thick. I think it would be able to if you got an aftermarket line that is sharp. Eye protection is absolutely necessary, ear protection is ideal, and nose protection from dust is optional i'd say. I'm mainly working with dry pine needles, and it reduces them to 1/3 which is better, an additional pass gets it to about 1/6. I think with one of those sharp custom lines that landscapers use could be a very worthwhile upgrade.

No complaints and I am running 2/3 acre lot full of natural hardwoods through it. It made my entire front yard fit into a heavy but not stuffed full garbage bag. Usually this is a 5x10 utility trailer full of raked leaves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hondo from Excellent Residential Solution I bought the Sun Joe because it did not have a warning about "not for wet material" but rather has a setting to aid in such material. I also found that there is not a need to set to finer mulch as the most open setting still shreds the material into much smaller volume (6:1 in my estimate). While the strings do take a beating if there are pine cones or sticks or large stems with the leaves, it still works great. Just replace the strings (buy the pack when getting the mulcher). Also, I found it to work on damp material with only a little more load on the motor. It is certainly not for commercial or fast stuffing volume but it works in steady manner of only a minute or two per wheel barrow. And, in my case I have 3 dump truck loads of leaves on my yard and no place to put/take them. I can now get them into bags or one 5x10 utility trailer load for a long haul away in one trip. Will buy again even if it does not last but two seasons. I have no other better solution for the cost.

Rated 1 out of 5 by jvardc from Broken right out of the box The funnel came broken where it latches so I can't even use it. I don't blame the shipper (amazon/USPS) as the box came without any damage and the contents were secured inside. Poor quality control.
