How high is the firepit bottom off the ground?
I measured the bottom at 9 cm off the ground. There is a aluminum heat deflector plate which is screwed in underneath the bottom, but it is far less than the full diameter of the bottom. Highly recommend buying a heat shield / blanket which is bigger than the full diameter ... otherwise you will burn your deck or whatever flooring is under the fire pit.

Can this fire pit fit on a 24 x 24 inch slab? are the feet more then 24 inches apart?
The maximum length is 30 inches, that is the diagonal length. The legs are 17 inches apart.

Has it rusted in the rain or has it held up?
After 2 years, the bowl itself has rusted some but it has not compromised its usage. The lid however which is the best feature is not very good. We've gone through 2 in 2 years as they rust and fall apart

Pleased with it for the most part
It seems fairly durable. It gets a minus because the lid doesn't fit as good as it should, but it does stay put, so at least it does that.
Please note! The instructions state you need to fill the bottom with sand. This may be a surprise to you if you schlep it home before reading the instructions (which 99.9% of people will do.) Anyhoo...
It takes almost two 50 pound bags of sand to fill it to recommended level. So, add about 7.00 more to the final cost (aside from firewood!). Nice thing is, 100 pounds of sand will keep the pit firmly in place!
I used some cheap pavers to create a mini patio for the pit. Makes it look a little better that way.

Rusted even after "anti-rust" paint
Bought this 2-3 years ago and as suggested, first sprayed it completely with Rustoleum High Heat black spray before using. Always kept it covered. Really liked the design but when we uncovered it this year the bottom of it had so much rust on both sides. In hindsight, when it was new I should have sprayed the underside of it as well as the inside. I think moisture coming up from the ground is what caused the damage.
Last week I scraped off as much rust as I could then applied more Rustoleum high heat black spray (it took 4 cans to give the entire pit and screen two coats). Looks like new but time will tell if it rusts again.

Great Fire Pit!
This is a great fire pit for the money! We read another review that stated that adding 2 50 lb. bags of sand was in the instructions, but it wasn't. However, we did add ONE 50 lb. bag of sand to the bottom (filled the bottom almost to the cut-outs), and it helped give it additional weight to stabilize as well as provided a barrier to help disperse the heat off the bottom of the unit. It was exceptionally easy to start a fire (with dry wood) and it burned great. We love that it came with a cover that fits perfectly and didn't have the extra cost to buy one. We will be using this a lot as the weather cools down!

Not a Bad Fireplace
I read alot of the reviews and bought this because of those and the size of the pit. Sturdy parts right out of the box and very easy to put together. The only 2 things that need to be improved, is the evenness of the legs after they are installed. On concrete it really rocks back and forth. The legs came out very uneven. It is fine on grass or soft ground. Second is the top. Right out of the box the top did not fit. Even after it heated up, it was worse. It doesn't look bent at all but only makes a bit of contact on 2 spots. So the top is uneven also and doesn't stay on top. Tends to fall into the fire. Other that that this fire pit is great. If you don't use the top is is a very good buy.

It is what it is!
Pretty basic here people...I wanted a fire pit I could pull out during the winter and enjoy. It’s good size for your larger pieces of wood and I like the screen and accompanying handle to lift it.
They asked if I wanted to spend $20 to have it put together for me...negative, we’ll within anyone’s skill set who has BASIC handy skills. Very easy...I actually had my 11 year old son put it together while I read him the directions.
Don’t over think this one. If you want something high end and fancy pay more, if you want a simple well contstructes fire pit for not much dinero then pull the trigger.

Good fire pit
We were looking for a fire pit to put under our large porch. I saw this one and liked it because it was large and had vents on the side. This is a good size fire pit (see picture with can for scale) and the vents on the side help feed the fire well. Ours didn't come with the grill for the bottom so we just put two bags of sand in the bottom. We don't live in a humid climate so as long as we store it under our porch we don't expect to have the rust problems that others said they had. The metal is thin and the unit is lighter than it looks so it can be easily moved around. I like how it has a cover to control cinders.

Great open fire pit.
Bought this because of the full view of the fire. Read all the reviews before purchasing. Our top mesh cover also does not fit exactly flush but does not seem to be a problem. The grate they say comes with it is actually raised metal pieces built into the bottom, which works fine for air getting under the logs. Cover and poker is a plus. Have not drilled a hole in the bottom for water to drain, we will be keeping the cover on it during rain. Bought the bbq grill rug to put under it so it can sit on our wood deck- all works wonderfuly and looks beautiful. I love the open fire vs our chimineas with just a small hole to view the fire.

Campfire in suburbia!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I Bought this fire pit because I moved into a neighborhood where houses sit close together and I only have a quarter acre yard now. I went in with no expectations that I would be happy with this fire pit. I’ve lived all my life in the country with 13 acres of land. Downsizing from a bonfire ring 15 foot in diameter to a 29 inch portable pit wasn’t as horrible as I thought. This little pit appeared flimsy and I had my doubts. But I’ve had some raging fires in it. I was worried it would warp or melt the finish off it. But it has held up amazingly. And the screen lid keeps hot ash from flying out of the fire. I’m very happy I have my campfires back.
