Can these be used to mount posts for a pergola into a previously built wooden deck?
Hello, Note that E-Z Base is not a load-rated part which is intended for support of short (under 48") posts that are not acting as guards. You may want to consider our RPBZ bases instead, however design and detailing of the structure and of post connections need to be done by a qualified designer. Regards

Can you provide some direction on the brackets for mounting 6x6 posts to a wood deck. The post is flush cut on the bottom, looking for a bracket to strengthen the connection.
Hi Deckfixer, this is Tim from Simpson Strong-Tie. We suggest checking out something like our RPBZ or HBC, which can be found on pages 76-77 and 86-87 of our Canadian connector catalogue (https://www.strongtie.com/resources/literature/wood-construction-connectors-catalog-cn). To order, please contact Lowe's Canada.

Firmly holds post and prevents wobble.
My front porch posts do not go all the way up to the ceiling, they are free standing half posts. The strong tie post base will not hold a post firmly to prevent wobble in the railing. I returned those and picked up this concrete base. It does the job! My porch railing no longer moves or wobbles.

4x4 dont fit
I purchased 6 of these and i had to shave off about 1/8" off each 4x4 post because they are not true size. I purchased some knock offs from another company and my post actually fit the way they should. Stay away from this product unless you are wanting to modify your 4x4s post because they wont fit. Please dont reply with a phone number to contact yall for "step by step" instructions. I dont need instructions. They dont fit, plain and simple. Make a true to size product or ease off on the powder coating.

Excellent for adding a fence to a concrete slab
Very sturdy and easy to install. Just need to watch the distance to the edge of the concrete

Patio Light Post
Perfect! I ran some patio lights and needed a base for 4x4 10’ posts. I bolted them using red head concrete anchors, which I regret using. I had to shim to make sure the 4x4 posts were upright.
Great quality! Use Hilti sleeve anchors instead.

I turned this “ upside-down “ and secured my wobbly mailbox to the top of its existing post. Works great! Easy solution.

Great for small decks and fences
Used it for a small porch and fence. Used ½ x 4½ wedge anchors to secure, then ¼ lags to secure wood to posts. Tight fit, grab some scrap wood and a mini sledge to fit post in without damaging post

Horrible to work with
Grabbed 4 of these for a patio gazebo that I was building. These were a pain on the rear end when it came to getting the 4x4s in them. Lumber had to be forced in and even had to shave some off to make them fit in. Also had a hard time to install them on the anchors on the cement as some of the wholes were un-even to the rest. Just a bad product overall.
