Worst Lawn Soil
This is one of the most expensive lawn soils and, in my opinion, likely one of the worst. It contains an incredible amount of wood chips and stones as well as mushrooms. The consistency is more like peat moss than soil and does not have the integrity to sustain grass. Far superior lawn soils are available at half the cost. Because I have very large lawns, I had bought about two dozen bags and unfortunately have used about half, leaving a big mess to clean up and grass that was easily uprooted. Not sure what I will do with the remaining bags. Select a different product and apply some peat moss yourself if you like. You will save money and not have so many problems.

This product is garbage
This product is terrible. It is so heavy and dense, so it forms clumps on the lawn that just lead to dead patches. It is also full of little twigs and mulch.
Using triple mix is far better as it is light. This is no better than using cheap clumpy topsoil.

Do not buy this expensive lawn soil
I think a egular $2 top soil is much better than this. "Scott's lawn top soil" the bag was so compacted and hard, I had to loosen by hand. It had so much big woodchips and I found broken piece of glass. Aluminum foil pieces. I am very disappointed how they advertise and sell totally bad product. I will never buy Scott's products again.

Terrible!!!! Should be sold as mulch
I totally agree with all the folks finding it more wood mulch, stones rather then soil in the bag. I regret of not seeing the reviews before buying this product. I think this company should be sued for this product. It will damage your lawn. Do not buy this!!!. Rona should not be selling this product.

Too much "organic matter"
Bought 10 56L bags to top dress, over seed and repair bare spots in my lawn. I typically purchase from a local landscape company as I can see the soil quality, but with delivery fees costing more than the product I thought it would be easier to use bagged soil.
The first bag I opened looked more like mulch than soil, more than 25% of the bag was sticks, stones and plastic particles. Some bags were better than others, but the majority of the bags include these items. I see organic matter as an ingredient, but stones and plastic are not organic, and the size of the sticks will take years to decay - truthfully they'll end up raked up before they ever decay in my lawn.
I can't express my serious disappointment at the quality of this soil out of the bag. Time will tell if it truly improves seed germination and lawn growth. Hopefully, it does so that I can get the sticks and stones raked up and disposed of sooner rather than later. Right now my lawn looks like a mess of sticks and stones. Should be fun with the first mow!

many twigs
Disappointed with this product for repairing lawn as it was so full of little twigs, some sharp and not for bare feet at all. In terms of texture, no better than the city's free rough compost.

This a joke?
I thought other reviews were exaggerated, until I used the Scott's Turf builder personally.
50% of the bag consists of twigs and wood chips.
Total trash. The wood chips stiffled the grass in most areas causing it to burn.
Had to rale all the wood chips of the lawn and into the trash. This product is a scam, I'm amazed it's allowed on the shelves.
