Scotts Select Black Earth is ideal as a top dressing for gardens. The organic dark soil blend can be used for seeding new lawns and repairing bare spots. Use with grass seed to repair or thicken an existing lawn. Enriched with compost to promote healthy growth. Apply before seeding or overseeding all or part of your lawn. Bag size: 16 kg (50 L).

Would not recommend
Disappointed with this product. We ended up removing what we applied and the bags ended up in our green bin. Poor quality, terrible odour and like clumps of dry dirt the day after application.

“Crappy” dirt
Assuming the description was accurate that this was to be used as a top layer of soil to finish off a flower bed I figured it would work great. All I needed was some plain soil. This stuff is terrible. It has a VERY strong manure scent to it and now I’ve got hundreds of black flies and a horrible smell to deal with. Stay away from this one.

Tons of plastic mixed in the dirt
Bag was full of plastic pieces and even some metal. Would itself was not very high quality but when I was how much plastic was in there, I was upset. Spent a ton of time getting my garden just right and now it's filled with plastic bits. I get handfuls of it every time I go out to try and clean it. I'll be following up with Scotts on this...
