Hi Palakse,
Great question! As long as the stone is kept indoors, our Rust-Oleum Aerosol Chalked Paint is suitable.

If the varnish is oil based, I would scuff sand the surface first.

Hi Goose65,
Thank you for your question.
Our Rustoleum Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paints were designed for indoor use only. The product will not hold up, even with a clear coat, to the outdoor elements.
We hope this answers your question. Feel free to contact us again if you require further information.

Painting an aluminum transition for a floor. Was thinking of this solution: 1) Rust-Oleum Grey-Green Self-Etching Primer 2) Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Spray Paint 3) Rust-Oleum Chalked Ultra Matte Clear Protective Topcoat Would this be durable?
It would ultimately depend on how tough/durable the top coat is... the chalk paint itself is very easily scratched. If I'm not mistaken the top coat is primarily meant for furniture, which doesn't get as much wear as walking on it would cause. Why not just go with a Matt spray paint meant for metal?

If my dining set is heavily varnished, how much sanding would you recommend to have this adhere?? Does it have to be completely stripped??
No heavy sanding is required, just a light scuff with 220 grit sandpaper. If you have polished, or waxed the surface in the past, gently wipe the surface with a clean cloth dampened with mineral spirits to remove old polish/wax before sanding.

can I use this spray paint on glass?
Chalked paint can be applied directly to glass, but adhesion would be improved with a good bonding primer like Zinsser Bulls-Eye 123.

Can I use Rust Olieum chalkboard spraypaint on metal?
Yes, the Rust-Oleum Specialty Chalkboard Paint Spray can be used on ungalvanized metal surfaces. Galvanized metal surfaces should be primed with a galvanized metal primer first.
