Description

This Vapor Shield(TM) underlayment of 200 sq. ft. is used as a moisture barrier. Made of 6-mil wet strength paper with a backed silicone coating, it prevents moisture from penetrating the wooden floor. It can be paired with a heat system, does not spread any asphalt scent, reduces the vapor flow and helps to reduce the level of dust and noise.

Could someone tell me what is the "shine" side?.. There is not a shine side, there is a light coated side and the letter side, which one I have to install side up? THANKS A LOT!!

One side will appear to be "Matte/ Fibrous" The other will have a "glossy/ shiney" appearance which is installed glossy side up.

We have the Tonic luxury vinyl plank flooring. which we want to lay down on concrete. Is there any underlayment for moisture and warmth before we put the plank flooring down?

Always follow the floor covering manufacturer's specific underlayment guidelines/recommendations. Roberts 6mil is a recycled paper, specific to nail down wood flooring installations. You may want to consider Roberts 70-115 6mil poly plastic sheet specific for use under LVP over concrete substrate.

No, The SVS 70-198 product is specifically designed for use under nail or staple down flooring over wooden subfloors.

No, Roberts Silicone Vapor Shield is a 6 mil moisture vapor retarder paper with silicone coating used specifically for nail and staple down wood plank installations over wooden subfloors. Please follow the laminate manufacturer's recommendations for a foam type or similar underlayment.

Thank you for your inquiry. No, Roberts Silicon Vapor Shield is a moisture vapor retarder specific to nail and staple down installations over wooden subfloors. In a basement installation over concrete you may want to consider a 6 mil plastic barrier such as 70-115 Moisture Barricade. This is most likely what is recommended by the flooring manufacturer.

Can this be used with Composite Vinyl Floor planks (fiber flooring)?

I wouldn’t use it with vinyl plank. Vinyl plank you need to glue down at least the perimeter to the subfloor, putting down paper and glueing to it is no good. Vinyl plank goes directly on the subfloor, no barrier is needed because it isn’t affected by moisture.
