Description

This Rain Bird pop-up spray watering head uses a two-piece ratchet mechanism so you can easily align the nozzle pattern without the use of tools. The durable commercial-grade spray head is made of reliable, heavy-duty materials. The co-molded wiper seal has an encased plastic cage that resists grit, pressure and environmental elements. Upon pop-down, a precision-controlled flush clears debris to ensure positive stem retraction in any soil. The spray head creates a quarter-circle pattern.

Will these popups work okay in flower beds using 1/2 inch copper piping supply in the house out to the tap connection, then a connection to a regular hose? What piping and fittings are required to join popups together?

These sprinklers are 1/2" female pipe thread, so they will connect to 1/2" male pipe thread. Depending upon the area of the country, PVC or poly piping is usually used between sprinklers. The sprinklers themselves are attached to the PVC or poly pipe via a tubing and fittings called swing pipe. This allows flexibility for the sprinkler to move a little if force is applied against it so as not to crack or break it. Nominal water pressure is 30 psi.

Lawn service was damaging previous sprinkler heads with heavy mowers. The Rainbird is lighter duty and more easily damaged. High replacement cycle. Easily damaged with string trimmer. Having 14 zones I use these for emergency temporary repairs. A very nice sprinkler for the price

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sprinkhead from Rainbird Aluminum Pop Up Outstanding sprinkler head. If you don't want to have to continue buying sprinkler heads this is the one to buy. It's a little pricier but well worth it. It won't rust out or wear out nearly as fast as a regular head. Any Irrigation Specialist will tell you the same thing. Lowe's should only stock this type and not the cheap ones.
