I had a "dip" where my driveway meets my garage but the asphalt surface is smooth. Do I need to chisel holes into the smooth surface so this product sticks or just compact on top of it? Also, is cement mandatory for this to cure?

Asked by: Mojo123
the sidewalk of my house is in bad shape with many big and small pot holes . I used this to fill the holes. I bought this last year to see if it worked or not, the outcome is not bad so this year I bought it again to finish the job. I just pour the stuff to fill the hole without adding anything. I level the product to make it even then I used the brick to press it very hard until it doesn't get loose. one thing I need to remind you that it takes very long to get harder usually more than a month (may be I am not strong enough to press it) otherwise it will stuck on your shoes or tires. you can put a wood cardboard on it to prevent the mess.

HI there, What is an additive ratio for this product to help cure faster? Is quick mix cement or something along those lines needed to achieve a better bond and cure time?

Asked by: bingbang
I used about 40 bags over a few years and I always spread a layer of mortar mix to cover the black color of the QPR, and then compact the mortar mix to mix with the QPR material and then mist the surface with water. It will harden quite a bit in a few weeks and fully cured in about 6 months. The mortar mix only costed a few bucks. Worked out very well for me.

How much area can one bag of asphalt cover. Thx

Asked by: OO77
This is my second reply -- I made an error with the units with the first answer. The bag itself gives reasonably accurate estimates: a 2 ft. x 2 ft. hole that is 2 in. deep requires 2 bags, while a 3 ft. x 3 ft. hole that is 4 in. deep would require 8 bags.

i QPR for my driveway a week ago.it isnot going to be hard and still it is very loose.please suggest me what can i do.could i put something on the top.thanks

Asked by: amer
Sorry, not true. This cold applied material cures hard over time. Heating the asphalt will actually destroy the chemical composition of the binder and reduce its ability to stick together. It is only recommended for a pothole or small repair with sidewall containment, not for use as an overlay asphalt. Not recommended for garage ramps as it will remain soft for as long as 6-10 months. You will not be able to drive over the ramp into the garage for many months without having the repair material moving due to the weight of the vehicle.  Great product for long lasting pothole repairs from tennis ball size to basketball size.

QPR Permanent and Easy Pothole Repair Material is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 29.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good We are a professional parking lot maintenance company and have been using this for 10 years. Never had any problems, never used Portland to cure it. We use dozens of pallets (hundreds of bags) per year and it seems to work just fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be aware , takes 180 days (6 months) to cure The front packaging suggests it's quick and easy, and open to traffic immediately. In my experience It does not create a stable solid surface.... you cannot park on it as it will give way and leave a rut. You can drive over it - and they encourage that to help compaction. In the tips section on the back of the bag it indicates to speed up curing you can add sand or portland cement in the last surface compaction. It is not in the step by step instructions on the back of the bag which is what most people read first. Also in "Other Notes" section it indicates it will take 180 days (6 months) before you can seal your driveway, ......because this is how long it will take to cure. Not up front instructions. This is costing me more money to rent the compaction equipment again and to add portland cement. Not happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this.. I used this on my driveway to fill small patches and to create a slope between the garage concrete lip and driveway.. .as many have mentioned...the product never hardens and it stays soft for ever making it to stick to everything that runs on top of it...All the time, effort and money invested is a complete waste..Stay away from this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow the proper steps and get amazing results I read all the reviews on here and watched the youtube review as well. There are people who say the material is great, and others say it doesn't stick/harden. Well, i followed the instructions provided by people on here. Laid it down, flatten it out and poured a light amount of motor powder on top. Results are great! It hardened within a week. Make sure to apply motor and compact!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What a waste of my time I bought this product a month ago, found that it is made up of what looks like 90% crushed stone and 10% binder/ tar? Easy to work with, used a hand tamper did two layers tamping both, with a total depth of 3", than used my hand lawn roller to try and compact it more numerous times daily over a two week period, but the finished product the surface has voids between the stone still. ( for water to collect and freeze in the winter and break up the surface ) After a month it tracks out by walking or driving on it, you can move it around just by touching it with your fingers, so you end up with a pot hole again. Now it does say " should you require faster set up times, a light sprinkling of portland cement or mortar dust, prior to final compaction, will help to speed the curing process " If this is a must to get proper results it should not be a suggestion, but a must do step in the instructions, so you must spend more money on portland cement or mortar in order for this product to cure in less than 6 months, so you can use your driveway in less than six months, hopefully, I'll have to wait and see in six months!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Totally worthless product Directions for this product suggest mixing with cement to lessen cure time. Perhaps this should just be added before selling, because as it is sold it does not harden at ALL. 6 weeks after product was applied to small hole it was still as soft as when it came out of the bag. How is that a practical solution. I ended up taking a shovel a just lifting it back out of the hole and pouring it into a pail for disposal. Total waste of money.
