I am using 6x6 inch posts.. will this work with this item?
Hi,
If you want to use with a 6x6 post you must buy our Adjustable Deck Suport 66 or Adjustable Deck Support Extensible 33-66. You still need the 4x4 saddle for the installation but can switch the heads at the end of the installation. Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

will a 32 inch be affected by frost heave?

These are awesome!
First off, these do not meet code requirements for things like decks over 2' high. That said, they work perfectly, especially in the clay-rich soil in Niagara and much of the Great Lakes region. With a 12' 2x4 you walk in circles until the anchor is as deep as you want it (should be 75% or more buried), then you can adjust the upper bracket to receive the deck ledger board(s) and adjust with a wrench. The magic is the next season if the ground has heaved or settled, you can raise or lower its height in a few minutes. Very slick and no messy concrete or hole digging!
One last note, I used these every 3 feet, which was overkill but it made for a VERY stable deck.
