Rated 1 out of 5 by Ticked from Be prepared to replace this item approx every 6 mo This is the third one I have replaced in the last year and a half and it is all because of a small spring that breaks after approximately every 6 months.This sliding door is used several times a day and it is locked again after each use. it generally works just fine but then it breaks. I would like to find out if this happens to others that purchase this product and is there a recall from the manufacturer or is there a warranty that would replace it or better yet rebuild or redesign it to function better, longer and with less aggravation .

Rated 2 out of 5 by Zeke from Sliding Glass door lock I purchase this lock every four to six months, since it is the only lock that fits my sliding doors. Unfortunately, the lock constantly breaks. Every four to six months the lock needs to be replaced. I open and close my doors quite often during the day as we have pets that need to be let out. Constant use of the door opening and closing causes something inside the lock to come loose and break. The lock cannot be fixed and needs constant replacing. I wish this company would make a stronger lock that wouldn't break so easily all the time!

This is at least the 4 one we have purchased (of this same product) in less than 4 years. The original latch that came with the door lasted over ten years. Obviously quality is a thing of the past for this particular product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Wayne from Broken Spring! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I can't begin to count how many of these I have purchased and installed. We go through two to three a year! As others have stated, the latch that was in the door lasted well over ten years and now these last a few months. There is a small spring inside that breaks. They are absolute JUNK, but I can't find anything else that will fit.

I bought 2 to have a spare as I replace these every 4-5 years because the internal spring that holds the latch out is the weak link of this lock mechanism. It rubs in a couple places and eventually breaks. It was easy to install.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Dick from Seems to be a short lived item, reliability wise. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought the same item last year and it lasted all of one year! The one before it lasted about 10yrs. The original lasted 20yrs. I can only wonder where the first two were made and, of course, just how long will this new one last? I’m crossing my fingers. I like going to Lowes because I can get a military veteran’s discount on every purchase every day of the year!! Thank you Lowes.
