I just finished installing a subway tile backsplash in my kitchen and I’m ready to grout. I bought this Maipai grout and the matching caulk. Do I use the grout around the windows and edges that meet the walls or do I use grout? I have approx. ½ inch ga
there is no right or wrong answer. if it is a corner then you would probably use caulking. It the tile ends at the window you probably should have used a schluter edging of some sort. if there is a a clean edge to caulk then use caulking. 1/2" seems pretty large so you may want to use grout. finishing is the toughest part as you usually have to think ahead on how you will finish the job.

How long does it keep in the container once it’s opened? Does it have to be used all at once?
Thank you for the responses regarding storing this product after opening. I’ve just completed tiling the tub surround and was ready to grout but won’t have the floor completed for a week or so. I wasn’t sure if I would need to wait until both surround and floor were ready. Now I know I can go ahead with the tub area and do the floor later. Thanks

How to calculate how much to buy?depending on surface area?
It depends on a few things, how wide the space is between the tiles, mosaic pattern or large tiles, etc.
If your doing a mosaic pattern with 1/8 spacers you can do about 25 sq feet/small container.

My plan is to use 3x6 ceramic subway tiles for a kitchen backsplash. I bought 1/8 in tile spacers and was told with such a small grout line to buy only "unsanded" grout. Does that mean I shouldn't use this brand of pre-mixed grout (with sand in it)?
This product has quartz not sand good for any sized grout line

Is this grout mildew resistant?
Is this product sanded or no sanded? Is it suitable for glass mosaic tile?

Top of the line grout
I am a professional tile installer. Been doing it over 15 years. Mapei's premixed is the best you can get. I don't understand why the reviews are all bad??? This stuff is gold compared to the regular unmixed grout. The cleaning does take a little bit more strength, but it leaves absolutely NO HAZE after you're done. Plus Mapei has the tendency of grout Color changing on you but with the premixes it's always a good batch and won't change on you. When it cures I feel like its way more stronger than your standard grout. If it weren't for the price, I would use the premixed grout on every single job!

Hard to use
I bought this to grout a small bathroom backsplash as I thought it would be quick and easy. I would not recommend this for a wall application as the product is very dry and does not stick very well, falls off the wall and makes a massive mess.
The included sponge is a joke.
It is more difficult to remove than other grouts; however, it leaves absolutely no haze which is nice. Again, I would not recommend this for a wall application as the sand or quartz makes another huge mess when cleaning the dried grout off the wall.
For a floor application, with two people working, one applying, one removing, I can see this product working well.

Terrible grout to apply
The only mandatory two person grouting job I've ever done. The grout was actually hardening as I applied it. It took a second persons 30 seconds after it was applied to SCRUB the tiles clean. It wasn't just a fluke either. I only had 22 sqft to do and was only ably to get 12 sqft covered from a bucket I should have gotten close to 30 due to all the waste. After another trip to Lowes, the second bucket did the same thing. For trying to save time and get premix for the backsplash I regret ever even looking at this product.

Amazing product IF you follow the directions
This is an amazing grout, and probably the best, strongest and longest lasting grout outside of an Epoxy grout. I'm a professional tile installer of almost 20 years exp., and if you follow the instructions, you WON'T have any problems.
DON'T try to grout a big area at once. Just like epoxy grouts, do a few sq. ft. at a time, and clean it well, you won't have any problems. Just finished a 70 sq.ft. backsplash of marble mosaic with this grout, and the clients are very very happy with it, as am I, being the installer.

Great product!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this grout for my subway tile backsplash. This was the first time I had done any tile or grout and was surprised at how easy it was to use. There are detailed directions on the back that I followed and did not have any problems.

SANDED! Beware,it SCRATCHES!
Great color which wasn't available in the other grouts, BUT... IT SCRATCHES! Tons of scratches in my porcelain tiles!Premixed, but sags and falls off tools too easily. Dries so fast, that it's hard to clean. I wouldn't recommend it for wall tiles because of the scratching of the tiles. Also costs more than twice as much as regular grout.

Colour is very different from container
The colour is nothing like the example on the container. I was going to try to patch some grout with it but it looks like I'm going to have to do the rest of the kitchen now. Also make sure you wipe it within ten minutes or it won't come off. Then wipe it again, and again. It's very thick stuff and hardens very quick. Don't recommend for glass or natural stone. I gave it two stars because I don't know how well it holds up yet.

Difficult to clean
I had nothing but problems with this grout. Either it would harden on the face of the tile before I could clean it or I would pull out half of the grout if I was able to clean the tile. Now I'm looking at a second round of grouting where I have to have a surgeon's touch to avoid getting any grout on the face of the tile.
