Not very heavy, maybe around 18 pounds.

Depends on the usage. Not good for lawn.
We got it to condition the lawn for reseeding. A waste of time , tedious work when we have to choose and pick out these solids . Might work for garden bed . You can't reseed with those pieces blocking the grass seeds.

Peat moss in store is 3.0 cu feet Not 3.8 cu ft as
Store price is different too. My store was slightly UNDER $10.00 a bale. If I wanted a 3.8 ft bale I can still get it at Southern States Stores. . Not sure why these are advertised on the net at 3.8 cu ft bales, I assure you they are only 3.0 ft bales. Is this another case where the packaging shrinks but the price stays the same? hmmm

Good to cover geass seeds
I apply peat moss on top of new seeds to keep moisture, protect from birds and wash-away by rain (heavy rain does wash it away though).

Premier peat moss 3.8
OMRI listed, much better than golf green which is full of sticks. Price is $4 higher than CT used to be, but I'm just grateful to be able to get the good stuff here at Lowe's. On line ordering very easy.

Best peat moss for overseeding!
Excellent product to cover, protect and feed lawn seeds (1cm) and water daily for a week to activate the seed.
