Did not work
We bought this product because of its good reviews after attempting to remove our popcorn ceiling with water. Our ceiling was painted and thought this would be our only chance of getting it off the ceiling. We scrapped all the high spots off in hopes that the product would have a better chance at penetrating and softening the popcorn. We followed the instructions to a tee. This product softened the popcorn on the ceiling but good luck in scrapping it off. As you attempt to scrap it off you tear the paper and are left with a mess. It would take hours of mudding to repair. Thoroughly disappointed and a waste of money.

No dust option!
I hated the popcorn ceilings in my loft, and the previous owners had put glitter all over them as well. I tried sanding at first, but it made such a mess just doing a square foot of ceiling. I thought that I’d just have to live with it. This textured ceiling stripper works like a charm. I applied it using a paintbrush and cut a plastic drop sheet into smaller pieces so I can do everything in sections. It’s a huge ceiling and it will take me awhile. I left the plastic over the gel for about 6 hours or so before taking a scraper to it. I held a bucket underneath to catch most of the mess as I scraped. It will definitely take time to get the whole thing done, but I’m so happy with the low mess, dust-free solution!

I have no idea how this product has such a high rating. After watching the instruction video and following all directions this turned out to be a whole mess. Good luck sealing your ceiling in time for this to work before it dries out. Super goopy gets everywhere and the amount of prep work to cover walls and floors entirely is crazy. Much better to go with the old Water and vinegar method to remove popcorn.

This Works!!
We started a project to remove stipple from our Hallway and Kitchen/family room last week. The hallway stipple which has never been painted came off easily with water. Then we got to the kitchen/fr which was painted about 15 years ago and came to a complete stop as this stuff was like stucco and we had to scrape and sand and used vinegar and water which didn't do much at all. The room was one big dust bowl and it was terrible. I was ready to put up a new ceiling but then we saw the EZ product online and with the reviews we tried it out. SO GOOD! Euphoria! We put it on for about an hour then the stipple came off like scraping eggs off a frying pan. We tried to put on the plastic but that was not sticking on well but then found we didn't need it anyhow as long as we put enough product on and let it sit for a bit. I was very skeptical at first but now I definitely recommend this to anyone taking off painted stipple.

It worked as intended without fuss even for older, more decrepit materials. I recommend it for all your ceiling renovations!

Product Works
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I would give 5 stars if product worked faster because it took forever. Applying was easy, then the plastic but the wait to me was too long. It makes a mess so be prepared to deal with that but if you have the time and willingness to scrape then this product will work for you.
