We have a log home. Project is to re-seal logs against UV and some rain. (Semi arid here) Would this product work? The home has been UV protected 6 years ago.
How many coats is needed for this product?
How soon after application can I add a second coat?
can I use this over a painted stain to seal it?
Do you have to wait A period of time after building a new cedar deck, before putting this product on . The deck has been completed three weeks ago . It took two weeks to construct

So far so good
I put this product on a new pressure treated deck. It says you can use it on new wood, but I waited a few months for the wood to dry anyway. I cleaned my deck with a deck cleaner beforehand and waited until that dried again before applying.
Don't be surprised when you open the can that it's not a clear liquid. It looks like an opaque yellow liquid, but when you apply it, it goes on clear with a slight yellowing. Be careful if your deck is attached to the brick of your house. I accidentally touched the brick and it's now stained yellow.
Here are some pics of the deck after it dried and during the next rain to show the water beading up and how it's now water proof.

Great Product
I have been using this on our cedar deck for a number of years. I have used several other products but this is by far the best. It is so much easier to use than oil based because it can be applied to a deck as long as there is no standing water...plus easy cleanup. I have not experienced any peeling and the cedar does not turn black like it did with other products. It simply wears down to the wood again and I apply a new coat. I have never "stained" the deck...always clear/transparent sealant and that may be the difference between my experience and that of some of the other folks.

Closest to natural for our Cedar Fence
We bought this product last month & we’re very happy with the outcome. We covered our new horizontal cedar fencing to keep it waterproofed for winter but didn’t want too much of a colour stain. Many cedar stains are very orange but this was a lovely natural colour called “ CLEAR”. We have received many compliments on our fence !!
It has a slight brown colour in the can but it’s the closest to a true natural wood look. Easy to apply but don’t drip on lower boards & if you do just quickly wipe with the brush to even out the stain.
We did one really good coat. Really get into the wood knots cause it absorbs more.

Not impressed for my PT deck
This is not my first deck refurb by a long shot but it is the first time I used Olympic. I was not unhappy with my previous choices but I wanted a clear sealant simply to protect against weather deterioration. I bought this last year and applied as instructions dictated. Power washed, sanded off the previous finish and applied on a warm but cloudy day when the deck was bone dry. After the snow melted this year the sealant was peeling off everywhere. It is a total mess. I would not recommend this product for PT wood. It may work well on cedar where it can penetrate more but certainly not on my 2 year old PT deck.

Nice sealant
This sealant was recommended to me by my contractor. A thin layer is required, as directed. I applied it using a sprayer and then brushed the sprayed areas in to assure the cedar wood soaks in the sealant. After a day of drying, I sprayed the deck with water to assure that the areas I painted are covered. It came out as beautiful as can be.

Bad Product and No Warranty
I used 3 gallons of this product last September. My deck looked worse than ever when I returned to my cottage in the spring. I spent 5 days using a deck cleaner, scrubbing and power washed my deck 3 times to prepare it. I applied the product after the deck was clean and dry. I made sure there was no direct sunlight on the deck when I did the application. It took several days to prepare the deck and apply the product. I wanted to make sure the deck was properly cleaned and that the product was given every chance to work properly. The amount of product that I used was consistent with the coverage range quoted on the can. In the spring, the product had lifted in some places and water had turned my deck grey in areas. My pressure treated deck looked better before I applied this product. The Olympic clear stain also changes the color of the deck. The deck now looks like raw pressure treated wood in areas, Olympic stained color in some areas, and grey and black where water was able to penetrate under the stain. I called PPG who carries this product in Canada. They would not warranty the Olympic waterproofing sealant because they said it might not have been properly applied.

Product not good
Applied the product in Oct 2019. Now, it is May, 2020, the sealant becomes flaky in certain areas on my deck. The product claims to last for 3 years.
