Posi-Temp works great but quality is low for Moen
PROS:
-The built in posi-temp feature works beautifully. The water temperature remains perfectly constant even when a toilet is flushed etc.
-The handle is metal.
CONS:
-The gap between the handle and bezel (as seen in the pictures) is very unsightly. Can be even worse than seen in the pictures if your plumber happens to mount the valve closer to the wall. This gap makes the valve look very cheap and really should have a cover for aesthetic reasons.
-The bezel is plastic (The Moen valve I replaced had a metal bezel). Not optimistic of how well it will stand up to cleaning over time.
-The bezel has a very shallow gasket around the perimeter. It is a good idea but is too shallow to seal across tile grout lines, so some water leaks behind the bezel where it crosses grout lines. I added silicone sealant to these areas to solve the problem, but this would not be necessary if Moen used a thicker and softer gasket with a metal bezel.
-There is no provision to control the volume or pressure of the water flow, it is fully on or off. The handle only controls the temperature.
