We had to buy a special screwdriver to adjust the flame as the lowest setting was way to high. Adjustment is tricky because turning the flame in the lowering position then brings it up high again as the adjustment turn it circular and goes quickly from lowest to highest.

My wife and I like the heavy duty grates, the ease to remove and clean around each burner. This Maytag isn't the first Maytag product that we have purchased in the past, but it will be the last gas cooktop we will need to replaced. I was thinking it wouldn’t be as good as the original but it is much better. I love cooking/eating bacon and the splattered grease can be difficult to clean up as it tends to smear streaks on the surface. But this new cooktop is very easy to clean, the grates are not as heavy as the previous one and the surface just wipes clean with a paper towel and leaves on grease residue.

The knobs get hot from the burners so you have to be careful when you touch them. Also when cleaning the cooktop the burners move easily so if you bump them the metal pieces fall off and you have to stop and put them back in place. It becomes time consuming.

No fan of the ignition characteristics with this burner or the location of the burner controls. The controls are too close to the front burners, especially when lighting. The spacing on the cook top grates makes using some smaller cookware difficult without the cookware getting hung up or tipping in the spaces.

It's a metal plate, rather than glass and it's very hard to get greasy smudges off. I have to remove the heavy grates plus all burner tops, wipe everything off with a sponge, then get a spray cleaner to try to get all the smears off. I certainly am not happy with that.

I have places where water splashed out and dried on but I can't get it off the stainless steel so you can see a water ring. I have tried vinegar and stainless steel cleaner/polish but to no avail. If I was to do it over I would steer clear of the stainless version.

My pots and pans sit firm on the stop top. The burners even the smallest do not go low enough. They remain hot even on the lowest setting and I can’t find a diffuser thick enough to avoid burning.
