Does what I need
Due to Black Dirt shifting, my back door constantly needs adjusting. This is the time when it won't latch so I can't lock it. I bought this Door Security Bar because I have a metal door and don't want to drill holes for a chain guard. I am very happy with the results. I made the initial adjustment so now all I do is slide it under the knob and give it a little kick to wedge it tight and off I go with no worries. When I come home I just kick it the other way and it releases. These are very small kicks, mind you. It can also be used as a sliding door security bar. I don't understand any bad reviews for this product. It's awesome.

Master Lock 42" Adjustable Security Door Brace
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought two of these for my 18-yo granddaughter who was spending the evening by herself and wanted extra peace of mind (so did I). This security bar is an length-adjustable vertical, steel brace. The upper end is forked and fits snuggly under the door knob, and the lower end has a sturdy rubber foot rests on the floor. I simply sat the brace in place, pushed the door firmly shut to eliminate any slack and adjusted the length to best fit angle. Lightly kick the rubber foot inward, and you have a very snug and sturdy door brace. Will probably take one of these with me when staying at a motel during travel as well. Nice product !

"Silver Button" Failure. No protection here.
Sliding is not my issue. I propped this security bar up under a door handle, snugged it into the carpet, then (on my knees) turned the door knob and gave a quick (but far from powerful) tug to open the door, and the "silver button" broke. At that point, it became a worthless tube, as it slipped down and no longer showed any interest in keeping the door closed. This happened on 2 of the 3 I installed. Perhaps if the tube was locked into the desired length with a cotter pin (as the yoke is fastened on with) instead of the little "silver button" (their term), it would be worthwhile. Until then, this is a no-go for me.

great for the price
If this security bar offers just a little bit of warning as to someone breaking into my home it's well worth it. I have attempted to break in to be sure it works and so far can't. I'm sure someone bigger might be able to but so far so good. I figure if the dogs hear the noise and the person finally gets inside then they are "free game" in my eyes. Better to be safe than sorry while sound asleep. Even the experts say to put as many barriers between you and the "invader" as you can.

No false security here!
Someone broke into my apartment but they didn't get a chance to take anything because a neighbor heard something and investigated. We were worried they'd be back. In order to give my children a sense of security while in the apartment, I purchased this security bar until a company could install an alarm. It worked like a charm. We have the alarm installed now, but still use this as an added measure. Moving into a home and I'm gonna purchase additional ones for each door that swings in.

I purchased this item to secure a set of sliding glass doors. My doors have gas filled double pained glass which prohibited using the traditional mounted swinging arms for security as drilling into the door itself was not an option. This alternative is a desirable solution that has proven solid, heavy duty construction from good materials and is highly adjustable, allowing for perfect fit.
Although this particular unit is tasked with security for those sliding doors, I would certainly buy an additional unit to secure traditional doors based on quality of product.

Works great
This security bar is excellent. I broke my garage door by backing into it with my car (not my fault, I swear! Ok, partially my fault, but whatever), and since I live in Alaska, it takes forever to get a replacement door panel. I needed a temporary security solution because the inner door to the garage has no lock. I bought this item from Lowe's and it works great. It would be pretty difficult for anyone to get past this bar. It's very sturdy and heavy. The only way to do it would be to slide a thin piece of metal or something under the door and dislodge the heavy rubber boot on the bottom (I hope nobody else figures that out - you'd have to know the bar is there to even think of that, though).

Excellent if used correctly
I have used this product in every apartment, house and duplex I've ever lived. I've used it on carpet, tile and wood floors and it has never failed. If you adjust it to correctly fit your door it WILL NOT SLIDE. People who say it slides on carpet are not adjusting the pole correctly to fit their door. With that said, installation is super easy and quick. If you get nervous at night this is an inexpensive and effective way to ease your worries.
