A real winner
I liked this board because it was real wood. Moreover it was oak. Oak's a winner. It started out in the Miocene and took over North America. It's best to pick a winner. Chestnut looks a lot like oak, but try to find it in a lumber yard. Technically it's not extinct, but it's saplings always die. So there you are. It's gotta be oak.

Red Oak
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used a Roman Ogee router bit to make trim with the piece I purchased and it turned out great. No chipping or splintering; also, ripped and cross cut it without any issues. The wood took an even coat of stain, can't ask for much more.

Nice Lumber
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this lumber to use for window casing to trim around a window that I added to bring light into our guest bathroom. I have used this lumber before and I like it because the boards usually run straight without any cupping, warping, or visible defects. Also, it is almost completely knot-free and is also less expensive than select pine, poplar or other similar lumber. Requires minimal sanding after installation and takes paint well. I have not stained it before but the grain pattern suggests it would do fine with stain also. Good product; only downside is that not all Lowe's locations carry it and if they do, it's often not marked and sometimes mixed in with other species/varieties of lumber. Wish Lowe's would carry more of it.

Straight and Smooth
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased Oak Boards to finish a project (made a rabbit grooming table). Nice smooth wood made the legs solid for the fold-up process and took polyurethane with stain very well.
