when installing this over plywood can you install a nail down hardwood over top? if not what would the options be for that? would you have to glue that down to it?
If your just filling a few areas in you could still nail/staple down just be selective on where your nails are don't put one in the patch or it well break up. If your covering a huge area id suggest to tongue and groove glue it together, making sure to tape all your seams while the glue sets overnight. You could direct glue down but because when you do that the floor has to be perfect id suggest mapei self leveler.

How do I calculate how much I need? My basement floor has a porous surface in places. I want to do the perimeter really well, and fill the pits as well as skim surface the entire basement, about 800 square feet.
There is no real way to know with certainty but with experience you can get pretty close. Thing is, for my experience to be useful i would need to see it and even then I've been off by two or three bags before. Generally though if you have no huge holes to fill with a few dips then I would start with two bags. Just a skim coat you should get away with one. Good luck

Is this product good for leveling a small kitchen over plywood and then install Self-stick flooring?
Yes this designed for the task at hand. ...but it has to be near perfect patch job. The self adhesive doesn't allow for a very big dip or hump and still stick. (more below) I'm talking no more then 2mm over ten feet. I've been patching floors for 20 years and I consider floating a floor to be an art and that forms over time.
It's not something you just do. Tbh, I wouldn't install self stick on anything ..ever. Anyone who has ever contracted myself or our company about self stick gets told the same thing. The adhesive used on those products will not hold up over time and only in perfect conditions should this be considered as an installation method. That being said there is an easy fix. Just buy some glue. On it's own I wouldn't/don't trust self adhering flooring products but spread some glue first and the bond is second to none.

Can this product be used on 5/8" OSB subfloor?
Yes of course. Just don't mix it too wet and mix very well. Mix it the consistency of pea soup not chicken soup if that makes sense. If it is too runny or not mixed properly it can cause the OSB to swell.

Great stuff
So after trying floor leveler and another patch product I had to buy my third bag. My house is nearly 100 years old fix a large piece of subfloor and didn't want to rip everything else up in the winter; I used this to bring it all up to the same level.
Planipatch is the finest silky smooth product I could find

Perfect for levelling and patching floor.
Great stuff! My hubby is a concrete finisher so that definitely helped. I read through reviews & manufacturer responses to get to know the product first. The tips are accurate.
Tips:
Have 3 buckets minimum. 1 to mix. 2nd with water to add to mix if needed. 3rd to put tools in for washing.
Mix in small batches - we mixed 1/2 of 22 lb bag at a time.
Use egg beater mixer on low. Water first, add product, slow mix. You only have a few minutes.
Once mixed to a mud like consistency, you have to move quick. (Make a mini batch first to get to know the product).
Use screed board, or a straight 2x4 to help level out & to manage high/low spots.
You only have a few minutes.
Work with trowel. Have a few different trowel sizes ready.
Sets quick, workable for about 10 minutes once down.
Clean tools right away after each batch. We placed egg beater attachment in bucket of water as we were working (unplug first).
It did exactly what we wanted to correct a bad joint in between old house and addition. We are prepping for laminate. We feathered out to 4'. This 100% did the job.
Highly recommend product. We could walk on it in 45 minutes.
