This Utile bath and shower wall kit by MAAX is part of the Designer Series and includes three one-piece wall panels made of composite. Sturdy and durable, it offers a textured marble tile pattern. It features the Ulok system, which allows for a quick and easy alcove installation directly on the studs. In addition, its realistic-looking joint lines offer the same appearance as tile grout, without the need for maintenance and repair. Protected against water infiltration, this product comes with a glass corner shelf and is backed by a 10-year limited warranty. Proudly made in Canada.

Can you attach safety grab bar to shower wall
Safety grab bars will require studs or blocking behind the wall surface and the Utile walls are designed for direct-to-stud installation, so there will be a pocket of dead space behind the wall. You would need to discuss the necessary framing requirements for something like that with your contractor because without any sort of proper wooden support, you cannot install a grab bar to these walls. Can these walls be used with a Maxx Cocoon tub? Is there a list of compatible Maxx tubs?

Can this be used with only two walls as our tub is open at the back wall?

Technically yes it can but I'm not 100% sure that it will look good on the tub as the back wall will not reach the end of the unit.
The back wall will end on the inside of the treshold and not reach completely to the outside.

How much do each panel weighs?

Very fragile
We have had two of them with surface cracks on them. We were beyond gentle with them and every panel had surface cracking. Very frustrating and looking for other options. That said, the idea for install is great, they go together well. It’s too bad that they are all cracked (that’s six panels between two different units).

Decent system, great customer service from RONA
We really like the look of the surround, though it’s not as easy as they market it to be as far as installation goes (the wall with the plumbing in it is challenging because you need to be able to lift the wall up and over the clips which is difficult when the hole for the tub spout doesn’t leave much room for that).
We noticed mid-installation (like, we already cut the holes for the plumbing) that ours had some cracking along the bottom of the main wall but the folks at RONA were willing to exchange it for us. Sadly, it meant taking the whole thing apart and exchanging all three walls despite only one being problematic BUT we were still just grateful for their willingness to work with us to resolve the issue. Fingers crossed set #2 will be crack-free!
