You will have to probably file the corners of the wall jambs to install this in a fiberglass shower surround, but your width of 28" is within the tolerances for this model which has a 27-29" width range. Please check the height of the walls on the shower surround as well to make sure they are at least as tall as the shower door. This model will actually fit a 27" opening, but please make sure to take width measurements across the top, middle, and bottom of your finished opening to make sure that none of your measurements are any less than 27" because this is the absolute minimum this model will fit.
