Can this surround be installed over ceramic tile?
On the first page of the installation manual in the preparation guidelines, it advises on the types of surfaces this wall kit can be installed on. The tub wall kit can be installed over drywall, plaster, painted walls, plywood, or ceramic tile. Many customers use this wall kit as a convenient way to quickly upgrade their bathroom look and will install it over existing tile. Please note that the manual also advises that you will need to thoroughly clean the tile surface and clear it from debris before installation and it further recommends scuffing up the tile surface with sandpaper before installation so that you have better adhesion to the wall surface. what kind (& how much) of adhesive does the installation require ?
For tub walls, the installation manual recommends 2 cartridges of wall adhesive that is compatible with polystyrene or ABS. The packaging for the adhesive should list all compatible materials.
