Easy to read tape measures
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I like these tape measures because of the ease of seeing the markings and numbers on the tape. The shop I work in has plenty of dark, shadowy places in it, and I really could read these tapes a lot easier than the other ones I've had. Also the end grabs and holds well on whatever you are measuring. The two different sized tapes are great too. You can use the 16 ft. for most applications, it's less bulky, but when you have something really long, like the 24 ft. tubing that came in, th 25 ft. tape comes in handy. The tape having measurements on both sides is a nice feature as well.

Good Looks, Terrrible Performance
I purchased the 25' + 16' set in store.
First problem: retraction mechanism is terrible. You have to feed the tape back in until you get to about 6 feet, and then it will retract itself.
Second Problem: The rubber decorations on the back of the body prevent the tape from slipping nicely onto a tool belt tape clip. The rubber doesn't allow the clip to engage on the belt, so you have to force it on every time.
Final problem: The tip bent when the tape was retracting. Yes, the hook physically bent, and when I tried to bend it back, it simply broke off. Not sure what happened to bend the hook, but once it broke off, the 25 footer went to the trash.
I've run with with a basic stanley tape for well over 10 years with no problems. These look great, but fail to perform. Back to the old basic stanley i guess.

My go-to measuring tape.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My needs for a measuring tape are simple; hook easily to whatever I'm trying to measure, and be easy to see the markings. These 2 tapes fit that need. I really like that both sides of the tape have a hook feature to grab onto whatever I'm measuring, and both sides have the same markings. Both retract really well and the stopper is easy to operate.
I've seen questions asking if it is made in the USA. I'm including a pic which says its designed, engineered and tested in the USA. I'm assuming since it doesn't say "made" as well, that it's made in a different country.

Good and durable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Let me start by saying I realize there is. It much to compare when talking about tape measures when it comes to the average home owner. But these tape measures are a step above the others I have. What sets them apart is the build quality and ergonomics. They feel like they built from good materials and fit comfortably in hand. They also buy a massive hook on the front which allows a stronger hold when measuring a longer distance. The larger print is also a plus. Overall, best tape measures I own out of 4.

Lacking recoil
Green on black and large print make it wonderful to read. Try operating it with one hand though, not so great. Pull the tape out any more than 3' and it takes 2 hands to recoil the tape, not great if you're trying to measure and write results at the same time.

Good but could be a lot better with some changes
I like the reverse color numbers & graduations on both sides of the blades. It makes it easier to read. The blades are a little too thin so they had to give them more curve to make it rigid. This makes it hard to make an accurate measurement because the edge of the blade is too far off the surface you are measuring. You have to tilt the edge of the blade to get it flat on the board and that sometimes causes the tape measure to fall over. It's OK if you are just measuring but if you are trying to mark a measurement then you need an extra hand to do so. Also, the belt clip is marginal on the 16' tape measure and useless on the 25'. This is because the 25' one sits in a round recess that appears to be just decorative or possibly it's supposed to improve the grip. Anyway, the clip is recessed so that there is no way to hook it on anything.

Nice but different.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I really like the Lufkin tape measures. They are easy to hold and great for regular use. The blade stand out is good and I love the catch on the end. There design grabs great and holds well.
The nite eye blade is a bit different but works well, but takes some getting use to. I decided to show it side by side with there standard blade so you can easily see the difference. For me it was hard to read, but mainly because I am so use to the traditional blade.
I have not tried it a lot in darker areas, but overall the feel of the unit is good.

My new favorite tape measures
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Crescent Lufkin has put so much thought and innovation into a must have tool for your tool bags. I love the look, feel, and function of these tape measures. From the two-sided blade design to the strong locking mechanism to the strong/stiff tape itself, they have perfected the tape measure. This 2-pack kit provides a standard 25ft and 16ft tape for different jobs and needs. The thru-hole feature is a versatile feature for scribing an arc or circle. The NITE EYE feature of the blade is useful in low light levels. The end hook is strong and well designed. I also like that the back side of the blade has the measurements in a different orientation from the front.
