Rated 5 out of 5 by Steve B from Finally, a tape that doesn't curl, bend or break [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a heavy-duty, sturdy tape measure that doesn't bend, curl or break. It is printed on both sides and includes both Standard and Metric measures. The end of tape (typically where most tapes break) is reinforced with a thick layer of polyurethane nearly 7" long. The tape can extend more than 10 feet without curling or bending, perfect for reaching high walls or ceilings. The only concern is that the end clip is designed with 1/8" play, so an outside measurement will not be the same as an inside measurement. (Outside is the more accurate.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by BudJ from A Solid Measuring Tape [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Lufkin Shockforce 10 meter/33 foot tape is a hefty tool that seems to be really solid and well made. I am impressed by the end of the tape that has a dual function tab to secure it while measuring. It snags the tape well so you can use it without assistance. The blade itself is wide and easy to read . I tested it to see how far it will extend before buckling and it made it to 13 ft. The recoil is nice as well and after extending it to 33 ft/10 meter max. it recoils back into the chamber well. You can actually hear it adjusting inside the chamber as you extend it out so it makes that adjustment to prepare for the recoil as you use it which I never sensed in another tape. I can endorse this tape. I did not test the ability of the tape to sustain itself from a 100 foot drop, I believe the claim!

At over a pound, the tape is on the heavy side but feels good to use. A rubber coating is around the case making gripping secure with bare or gloved hands. The tape grip end grabbed securely allowing measurement of long boards without slippage. Tape operated smoothly but retraction was slow when fully extended. As I retracted the tape when extended past 20 feet, I shook the tape measure and you could hear the spring recoiling. Both sides of the tape are marked and easy to read. The tape measure consistently held steady at 10 feet without bending. I am satisfied and recommend the Shockforce Tape Measure for homeowner and professional use. For the homeowner, it will probably last you a lifetime.

The hook is excellent with the wide body. The color is great, as it stands out to me when looking for it. It retracts smooth and without hang-ups, even after dropping twice. I usually take good care of my tools, so I suspect this will last a long time for me, and I would certainly recommend it to those with bigger projects. DIY and carpenter friendly!

Fast recoil and firm lock to keep tape in place while measuring. Since measurements are in both metric and SAE you are covered for any project. Weighing in at a hefty 1 lb. 5 oz. you will know you are holding it if doing a lot of continuous measurements. This is a well built tape measure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by IW Jon from I don’t know what happened. I had one of these tapes that lasted me over a year as an ironworker. It walked off on a job site and I have gone through two of these in less than a month. I don’t know what they changed. But they are junk now. Neither of the new tapes will retract all the way, constant jam-ups that require pulling the tape back out and coaxing it back in. The coating flakes off the blade. I regret telling my coworkers how good they were. Garbage!

High quality and easy to use. They’ve got the numbers on both sides of the tape, simple yet very well done. The clasp on the tape is super nice and makes grabbing whatever you are measuring a breeze. Easy to read and very sturdy on your belt or pocket with the study clip. Very impressed by the craftsmanship of this tape measure.

Has all the markings that you'd need highlighting by the foot and 16" for framing out walls. Great detail with the 3.25" marking on the back if you have to butt the tape measure against the wall.
