Does this over the range top microwave come with a bracket to install? It does it even need one. I guess what I am asking is do I need to purchase something to install?
Yes it comes with a mounting bracket which is required to mount these type of microwaves over a range. You won't need to buy any parts but you will need tools including a hole saw for the power plug.

How does this mount...at the top (back or front or centre)? ( I have an old house with a recessed shelf above the stove...jyst wondering if I can install there) Also, just confirming: is the intake vent in the front and where is the exhaust vent?

The intake vent is located underneath the unit and the exhaust vent can be installed several different ways -- instructions will be included in the installation guide. This unit is mounted on the top. You can certainly put it on a recessed shelf but you would need to make a cutout beneath for the intake vent. You will need 31,5"
Unfortunately, I had to return this microwave.
Even though it is a 30" microwave, when you try to open the door it will go over 31,5". So, if you have a wall on the left side, be aware of this issue.

parts have been discontinued do not buy
I bought this 1.5 yr ago and the keypad control panel went on it. LG replaced it at no cost...no even 6 months later the panel went again. Now it is off the warranty and LG has discontinued the part for repair. LG is not going to replace the item as they say it is past the warranty. This = garbage.
