Oven Measures 100°F Below Target Temperature
I've had this range for two months. I have one major issue and some minor gripes.
The major issue: The oven runs significantly colder than the target temperature. I noticed that things were coming out of this oven very under-done and cooking longer did not solve this issue. I used a multimeter with a thermocouple to measure the oven temperature in the center of the middle rack. I set the oven to 350°F and when the oven indicated it was done preheating my meter read 248°F. I left it on for five minutes as the temperature was slowly creeping up, but it leveled out at a peak of 270°F when it was supposed to be baking at 350°F. No wonder my food was under-cooked!
The oven has a temperature adjustment but that only allows an offset of +/- 35°F. I set the offset to +35°F and repeated the experiment. The oven measured 272°F after preheating and reached a peak of only 305°F after 10 minutes. I tested my thermocouple with my 13 year old toaster over which reads exactly 350° when set to 350° and boiling water which measures 208°F as expected at 600m elevation. I contacted LG about this issue and they're sending a technician in two weeks. I'll update this review with the results.
Some positives: Induction is great. Water boils in seconds rather than minutes. Adjusting temperature is much more responsive. You don't have to take the pan off the burner to prevent burning, just turn down the knob. Those knobs feel good to use. The LCD display is bright and legible even with a bit of glare.
Some negatives: The cooling fan for the stovetop is sporadically very loud. It seems to occasionally get into some kind of resonance that makes it much louder than normal.
There is a one "burner on" and one "hot surface" light for four burners and they are not very noticeable. Pair this with the fact that induction elements provide no visual indication that the burner is on and you can very easily find yourself attempting to cook with a burner that is off.
The circles indicating the position of the burners are extremely hard to see without showroom lighting. You'll basically have to memorize where they are or use a flashlight to locate them.
There is no number pad to enter oven temperature, you have to use +/- buttons which is just objectively slower.
The range is either connected to wifi or broadcasting its own hotspot. There is no way to disable the wireless antenna.
