Rated 2 out of 5 by Spacetracker from Not for backer board, not worth it then Hole saws are supposed to be useful for backer board but I know that is tough. But this one is not suitable because it was irretrievably dull after just one hole and can't even cut wood anymore. This hole saw is overpriced then. My carbide jigsaw blades do fine without any damage. I used medium speed and splashed it with water frequently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Johnny from Lenox Hole Saw [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I cut 7 holes in a ceiling of a 1930 house. The ceiling was 1 x 3 planks and extremely hard. The hole saw had difficulties but did a good job on this hard hard wood. I think it would go through new wood like a hot knife through butter.
