I bought this unit and I cannot line up the protection guard with the holes in the base. There is a hard section of plastic restricting the alignment. Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Great features
I bought a Ryobi trimmer. Tried to replace the string. Puff, it blew up. Sent it back and bought Kobalt trimmer. Easy to dismantle and replace string. Using to trim lawn and remove weeds. Great product
