Rated 5 out of 5 by Joel from Kobalt Brushless 24-Volt Cordless Random Orbital S [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this thing been wanting one for quite a while, and finally picked one up the other day. Has helped me finish handmade wooden tobacco pipes in half the time, first run finish sanding on terrariums, and smoothing out and restoring old furniture. Only con is my 1.5Ah batteries do not run long with this thing on full tilt, but swapping them out is no problem and you can't beat not having a cord to mess around with pulling out. Feels very comfortable even after long periods of time using it. Completely satisfied with this purchase, and since its Kobalt I know I won't have troubles with it

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ryan from My New Favorite Tool Yes, this sander is my new favorite tool. It seems a lot of thought was put into designing it. The six speed settings are perfect for small to large jobs. On the lowest setting, it is very quiet, which is perfect for me as I'm usually working on projects at night after work. The only issue I've had so far is with the debris bag. For some reason, it's very difficult to remove. However, I might just be seating it wrong. Additionally, the palm grip is not as ergonomic as my corded sander, but that's likely due to the location of the battery. I'm fine with the trade-off. Otherwise, it's a great sander.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jimbone from Great tool Biggest concern I had prior to buying was battery run time. But I was able to get about 30-35 minutes the first time I used it with a battery only a little more than half charged. Since the batteries are so cheap I have 3 and can sand all I want without ever running out of fresh batteries. The cordless is definitely worth it for jobs that don't involve hours of sanding. Just pop in a battery and go. Perfect for Pinterest projects and weekend warriors. Especially nice for quick jobs like small pieces of furniture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Steven from Convenient with some odd weight balancing As usual I like what Kobalt is trying to do here even though its weight is a little off balanced and the design a bit odd. The tool works well, but I wouldn't want to use it vertically for too long as my hand would get tired. Very nice to just grab and use not having to pull out a power cord and having to constantly move the cord around, cordless is great! Now if only Kobalt would make a 24V Wet/Dry vacuum...

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dave from Excellent Sander As a professional finisher, I already had a few tools in the 24v line, and I've been wanting a cordless sander to compliment my high end corded Festools, but didn't want to dish out a lot of money. I was greatly surprised by the quality of this sander. Its dust bag actually captures a lot of dust with it's airflow, and with a shop vac attached it's perfectly suitable for interior work. I was able to scuff sand an entire 15x15 ft deck with a railing on a full 2ah battery and 220 grit paper, which I wasn't expecting. As other reviewers say, the 2ah is perfect for balance, and is sufficient for any smaller jobs, such as furniture refinishing, deck repairs, etc. It's not for large jobs, or heavy work; that's what corded sanders are for. For touch up and quick work, it's awesome. As for the backing pad, there is a Bosch pad that fits, as well as a Ryobi, when you are ready for replacement. Kobalt just needs to get their own brand of backing pad on the shelf and this would be perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Diablo from Wow! I go through these types of sanders every couple of years or so. With the exception of Festool I have used probably every single one on the market, I have had Skil, Craftsman, Ridgid, Ryobi corded and cordless, Milwaukee, Bosch, Etc. I have been using a corded DeWalt and the cordless Ryobi which I personally did not like, outside of Festool I think this is the only brushless sander on the market and when you turn this thing on you will notice quite a difference between this sander and others like it. It is very smooth running, the variable speed is a great feature and the dust collection bag is OK, and most of the time it's terrible on these sanders, I still hook mine up to a dust collector but tried the bag. The pad is universal, I took the one off my Ryobi sander (which I know also fits Ridgid) and it fit just fine so if you ever need a hook and loop replacement pad and Kobalt does not have one available there is your plan B. As far as battery life it does fine with the smaller batteries but it can eat through them quick so for better run time use the 4AH battery. I would recommend using a good brand of sand paper and let the tool do the work for you, and you really can't go wrong with this sander. By the way if you are not invested into the Kobalt 24 volt line already a charger is like $40 and batteries are $10, $20, $50 and $80 for 5AH battery. I can not put into words just how happy I am with this sander.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Jeff from No replacement pads available It's a great sander until the sanding pad hooks wear down, and they will wear down. Once worn down a sanding disc will not adhere and at that point this sander is worthless as Kobalt does not sell a replacement (I called Kobalt to verify). I can't find any other pads that fit either by any manufacturer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by KG from Kobalt Cicular Sander [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sander is pretty versatile and powerful. It has 6 different speeds (1-6). It has the hook and loop feature, so it’s pretty easy to find that kind of sand paper just about anywhere. It can hold the bigger 4.0 battery or the smaller 2.0 battery. The only negative I have found with this sander is that it is pretty heavy and bulky with the 4.0 battery, while using the smaller battery (2.0) it is very compact, but you are exchanging that for about less the battery life.
